Perhaps if you thought of it as an act of love, not a school for your pet. (I'm not being sarcastic, this is a problem I have faced).

No one should condemn a person for asking sincere questions. That's one of the ways that people learn. Actually, you have already taken the first and biggest step toward obedience to God by deciding that this is what you want. God can always work with an open mind and a willing heart. Maintain those, add prayer and fellowship, and give it time. You'll see changes in your life. I believe that the ultimate question each person has to answer for themselves is this, "Is God trustworthy?" If the answer is yes, then we can place our trust in God without reservation and open ourselves up to the things that God has for us in this life and the next.

You know what, I am going to be honest with you and transparent about my own life in trying to be obedient unto God. I was not always obedient, in fact, I back slid for about 5 years. I had all kinds of bondages in my life when I came bakc to the Lord. I was a alcoholic, sexually immoral, and I struggle with pornography at the time I came back. But, when I came back to the church I still struggled with those things, but God kept telling me, "My Word". Everytime I had a struggle and wanted to do better, the Lord would tell me the same thing over and over, "My Word". I realized that you can not be good on your own even if you try you are going to fail. But, it is the Word of God which gives you the faith and ability to be obedient. If you want to be obedient, then you have to meditate on God's Word until you start walking in whatever your believeing for. It is the Word which quickens or gives you spirit the life and ability to obey God. This is how I got free of all those things I was struggling with, meditating on God's Word. Read it, meditate on it, believe it and then tell God that I have to be whatever you Word says I am, because you can not lie. The burden is all on God and His Word not you. You just have to be willing to walk in it.

Why do you seek to become obedient? To believe in something simply because you're told to? You sound confused. You may be making yourself an easy target for manipulation. Any organization with a cultlike mindset, and many forms of christianity are, prey on confused people. Don't seek acceptance at the cost of your own mind and individuality. It's far better to think for yourself, to observe the world around you and draw your own conclusions, than to become a victim of fear and insecurity, and let others decide what to think for you.

Rather than ask these questions on here where most have very little if any knowledge. I think you should seek a preacher. Pray and ask God to lead you to a good Bible believing man of God and he would be able to show you in the bible the answers to all of your questions.

It's not about obedience, its about doing your own research and coming to your own conclusions. Your goal is to be at peace with yourself and the universe around you. Whether that is through the Bible or the Quran or the Tao Te Ching or the Origin of Species is your choice. Don't let anyone else make that choice for you.

Good luck. :)

There is nothing wrong in questioning authority. Sometimes there is nothing wrong in disobediance.

It's learning the division line.

Each person has there own.

God is the final judge of what is too much and what is all right.

Choose wisely.

Our obedience is to flow out of our love for God. First, you should get to know Him. You do that by reading His word and talking to Him.
If you are sincere, and do your part, God will do His. He will meet you more than halfway.
