Why do some people think that God only did miracles in the Bible and is not doing them now?

That has always baffled me...

IMO the LDS church is a very organized religion that takes excellant care of its members and teaches an intresting gospel that clearly helps people find peace with "God" and inspires people to live better lives.

So why all the stinky cabbage from people?

If this is true then it means that they are okay with someone dies just because they lost a lot of blood through a car wreck, childbirth or any condition that is recoverable through a blood transfusion. Is death that small of a matter to this religion?

I have been watching stories about people whos houses are haunted by ghost, telepathic detectives who can find those who are lost (The police use them), and many other real life stories about the supernatural. If even one of these stories is correct and there is even one true ghost story then i believe it is proof of the after life and more importantly of God himself. If these shows and people are for real then what do you believe...?

My statement is based on News Paper reports and I take it as symbolic and not real. A Hindu friend of mine once asked me why 'sorrow' is an integral part of Christianity. In Christianity we observe sadness everywhere. Very seldom we see pictures of our deities smiling. We pray and plead for blessings crying. The blessings brokers around us cry out to reach out! Those who take part in church mass and evangelical brokering cry. Even our holy verses follow in line. Could you kindly explain this odd philosophy? I admit my ignorance. Please correct me if I am wrong! I need your enlightenment on this.

Evey year I listen to "Jesus Christ Superstar"

"Listen, Jesus I don't like what I see; all I ask is that you listen to me -- and remember: I've been your right hand man all along..."

Listen to it if you have it!

: )

I am "church shopping" again. Someone told me that the Vineyard churches are really good. Have any of you attended a Vineyard church before? What is it like? Did you like it? What are their core beliefs? I know it's non-denominational.

The above article is about how Obese people in Brazil feel they are being treated like horses, because they are being asked to go to the local horse track in order to be weighed and x-rayed - the hospitals only have equipment designed to fit "average" humans weighing up to 280lbs...

Now, I can understand being upset about being asked to step onto a scale that weighs horses. However, it makes me wonder - when is too much just TOO MUCH?

These obese people are usually victims of their own failed psychologies. Sure, a few might have thyroid issues - but the majority of obese people are obese due to an inability to stop themselves from eating.

So, should it become the responsibility of the Govt/medical facilities/public transportation authorities to make LARGER items to fit the growing waistlines of humanity - or should people simply practice some self control??

And a specific day for Judgement, that ALL are judged on that day? Does God make mistakes in his judgement? Why is it needed because all God Has to do is wait until we all die & judge us at the time we die, and all he has to do is close all the wombs & nobody would reproduce, so Human would die out in a life time. and then He could start again.

This is a follow up Question to the 1 I asked about where you go when you die.

Well, the obvious point would be that you should be asking in the biology section but whatever.

My real question is, have you considered these web resources:
http://uc.princeton.edu/main/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1441&Itemid=17
http://webcast.berkeley.edu/new_search.php?q=evolution&submit=Search&category=all&type=both
http://ocw.mit.edu/OcwWeb/Global/all-courses.htm
http://www.merlot.org/merlot/materials.htm?category=2613
http://mediasite.com/Default.aspx?q=evolution
http://www.edge.org/edge_video.html
http://www.actionbioscience.org/lessondirectory.html

Many universities now publish their lectures in podcase, HTML or streaming video format on the web for all to use. Open universities, indeed. By all means, don't restrain yourself to evolution. I hope you enjoy it.

Okay "God" cannot be proven or disproven!!! The wonders of nature can be ascribed to god or explained through logic. Given! Nevertheless the act of hearing voices is tangable to sceintific, earth bound evedince and verifiable studies.

If you hear voices something is wrong with you!

How come I can't hear voices? Why doesn't god talk to me? If it is a gift as some have suggested, why would god only have enough presents for some of his childern and not the rest?

Real solid answers requested.
