No, I don't hear voices. However God has "spoken" to me over the years in a way that's hard to describe. It doesn't happen every day or week or month, but a few times I just know in my "knower" that a thought that is going through my head is God telling me to do something like take a class or join a ministry or something like that.

One time I was at taco bell before going to a class at church and as I started to leave I just knew that God was telling me that "one of my children at the church is hungry, go back in and get some more food and bring it to him" and so I went back in and bought some more food. When I got to the church I was talking with some people there at the front desk asking them if they were hungry and it turned out that the guy behind the desk was stuck there without his dinner and was really hungry. I gave him the food and God the glory for providing for his children. There are other examples I could give but if you don't have faith you would probably write them off as coincidences.

To this question most believers are going to answer. "It is because you are not listening or listening correctly." To this question most atheists are going to say something in the order of. "Grow up or there is no God to talk to you or If you did maybe you should seek mental help." The truth of the matter is that if God really has something to say to you you will know it. Have you ever had an Epiphany. That is an answer to a question that you should not know but pops into your head and make perfectly good sense. You probably know the feeling. Its when you have been thinking about something very hard and all of a sudden out of a clear blue sky you get the answer and say "THATS IT!" You could think of that as God speaking to you. In truth its all about what you believe is Gods voice. I go by this set of rules. If i have a thought that is evil its not God and vice versa. I think you are talking about a rock solid "COME TO ME I AM GOD!" voice booming in your head. Am i right? Let me ask you this...Do you really want God to talk to you that way? I mean what if he says drop everything, quite your job, leave your family and come preach for me...Then what? It kind of scary don't you think?

Philip had a similar problem. He wanted, however, to see the Father.

Christ answered that if you've seen him (Christ) you have seen the Father (John 14:8).

Of course, since Christ returned to heaven, only one person and the people with him are recorded as having heard the voice of the Son.

It was Saul, who became Paul. He was struck down by Christ (Acts chapter 9).

Paul saw the bright light and knew it was Christ because he also heard what Christ was saying (verses 3-5).

The men with Paul were speechless because they heard Christ but didn't see him (verse 7).

In 1972 I also saw the bright light but I didn't get to hear Christ. Nevertheless, I look forward to a time in the future when I will.

Most people make the assumption that Christ is trying to save the world today. If he were trying to save the word then he would have to be an abysmal failure.

The fact is, Christ is not trying to save the world at this time. He is simply getting together his headquarters team for when he returns after the great tribulation that will be triggered by the beast using 10 leaders of nations who agree to give up their power (Revelation 17:12-13). Those on Christ's headquarters team will be the individuals who are called, chosen and faithful (verse 14).

The Father does the calling (the drawing) (John 8:44).

The Son does the choosing (John 15:16).

After being called and chosen, it's really important for us to be faithful. That's our part.

"But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that comes to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him (Hebrews 11:6).

Some children hear and obey and are rewarded, so do not. Your not his worthy child until you whole heartily ask for forgiveness and repent, asking Jesus to forgive your sins and lead your life. You as yourself are never worthy enough alone, it must be through Christ Jesus who died for your sins and shed blood as a sacrifice for mankind. Only Jesus was able to defeat the curse of death bestowed upon humankind in the Garden. Jesus defeated death when he rose the third day, bring opportunity for all to live eternally with him, if only they accept is Gift of salvation.

For those who do not believe, your statement would be correct, that you can not prove or disprove God. For those who are saved and do have a personal relationship with Jesus, it is very real, and yes, God will speak to you. I think most times it is not through a voice, but nonetheless, tangible real conversation that leaves no doubt that it is God communicating with you. That is not to say that there are not some that really do encounter a voice, but it isn't as frequent.

I don't believe that God audibly speaks to people except under rare circumstances. Probably because it would frighten most of us. Usually, God gets His point across to you by an inner thought that would be backed up by scripture or someone else will come to you with the answer that you have been waiting for. Someday we will all hear God's voice, it has been described as a loud trumpet or as many waters.

"hear voices" as in with the physical ears? I "hear" God talk to me frequently but it is a still, small voice in my thoughts that I know did not originate with me. Sometimes God "talks" by leading in my "gut instincts" - a feeling that says do this or that. Most of the time God "talks" directly from His Word and I can "sense" that He is directly relating something to me or a situation etc. Normal, everyday communication with God is internal. There have been incidences when God spoke audibly but usually those have been exceptions in cases of extreme duress or danger.

Maybe God only speaks to folks who really need to heart from him. Favors from God doesn't necessarily mean you are spiritually superior, maybe it means you are spiritually needy sometimes. The times I think I've heard God's voice have been when I was in a pickle and very unhappy, crying out to Him for help. Whole thing is so subjective it's hard to talk about.

God doesn't talk to me either!

If you hear voices from "God", I think it's more likely that you have an undiagnosed case of Schizophrenia.

The only way God talks to us is through His Word, the Bible. All the answers we need can be found, if we look closely and examine the whole thing.
