The research done on the Salem Witch Trials states that it all started by some over-zealous teenaged girls that started pointing fingers at people. This led to people making money off of "witch hunts" which ended up getting the "witche's" property and belongings and went as far as to point fingers at judge's and such. There was no substantial evidence then or now laying blame that these people persecuted were actually legit witches. It was just a fad at the time.

So yes. America was wrong to burn the "witches" in the past.
But life is full of mistakes to learn from now isn't it. Good thing that our government legally recognizes Wicca and other Pagan religions as real legit Religions. Otherwise, we'd probably be back to burning the witches.

You obviously have not done your homework. The majority of "witches" burned at the stake in America were not witches at all but Christians that neighbors had problems with, ones they wanted to get rid of. Hysteria blinds people to the truth. Is it a necessary evil to have someone burned at the stake because they are less fortunate then yourself or because they won't sell you their land?

Those who were accused of witchcraft never participated in any such thing. The only person in Salem who could have been a witch was Tituba.
The only evil was in the hearts of those who did the burning.

May I just point out that the Salem witch trials happened in 1692 before the United States of America ever existed (the declaration of independence was written in 1776 - almost 100 years later). They were still just English colonies at the time.

Thanks

They were the 'terrorists' of back then. In other words, kill anyone who doesn't think like you.. You seen the Silent Hill movie..? It effectively portrayed the self-rightious 'pure' ones killing the 'evil' children and do-gooders like in the witch hunt era.

So, your question is, was it right in the past for them to burn human beings alive because some folks believed they were "evil"? No. No it was not.

most of the people killed during the witch trials weren't witches.
again, where do you get your information from?
have you ever been friends with a witch? i guess not, or you would know what kind of people they truly are and wouldn't spread hate like this. i'm curious, what is your religion? is it one that encourages saying hateful things about people? does this get you in good with your god?
