I use to believe when I was a child but as I grew older I believe less and less. I would love to believe but some things I have trouble understanding. I believe that God says that all sins are equal. But I feel that many christians (from what I've experienced) are very judgemental of others. Also, not all people believe in the same God. How do you know if you are believing in the right God? If you believe in the wrong God will you go to Hell? Why is it that someone that has done horrible things in life can ask for forgivness and go to heaven but someone who is nice and has led a great life will go to Hell if they have not asked forgivness for their sins or if they don't believe? These are just a few of many questions.

The rich don't need it, And if you eat it, you'll die?

If you believe that God created the earth in 7 days, is it also possible that God's 7 day time frame can also be measured in thousands or even millions of years? Maybe that explains fossil fuel age, etc. What do you think is God's time frame? I believe that God created everything in 7 days but we don't know what exactly that means in His time frame.

“Predestination is the doctrine that God alone chooses (elects) who is saved. He makes His choice independent of any quality or condition in sinful man. He does not look into a person and recognize something good nor does He look into the future to see who would choose Him. He elects people to salvation purely on the basis of His good pleasure. Those not elected are not saved. He does this because He is sovereign. He has the right to elect some to salvation and let all the rest go their natural way: to hell. This is predestination."

"For those God foreknew he also PREDESTINED to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, …and those he PREDESTINED, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified." Romans 8:29-30

"Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy... having PREDESTINED us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His His will Ephesians." 1:4-5

I read recently about an event where Jewish and Muslim children and their parents met together at a school to do crafts, eat, and sing songs. Beautiful.

What else might be done to bring about understanding and friendship among people of different faiths?

This question is for anyone who is Catholic. I've got a friend who has lately used her catholic religion as a reason not to do various things. I asked her to go on vacation with me on Easter and she said, she couldn't because it was too sacred of a holiday and that it's too disrespectful to travel on Easter, however what's the problem with that? It doesnt make you a sinner to travel! Secondly, there was an occasion where she seemed to be lying about something, so I asked her to swear to god she wasn't lying, and she wouldn't do it, saying it's not right to do, however she feels free to swear like a trucker if she's mad at somone, and she's not at all a perfect catholic girl if you can catch my drift. So, does this sound like an excuse or can it be really all about being Catholic? I don't really know, cuz I'm not too religious. Is she just trying to get out of things with this excuse? Thanks anyone who answers!

going out of your way to please someone else with no reward what so ever is quite foolish in my opinion. so my question is, why be "nice" and "good"? if your answer is god, then are you saying you are good for the sake of getting into heaven?

I think this verse is THE ANSWER to many of the religion questions posted here that are not truly curious, instead trying to incite a verbal "war" Thanks for replies. Those who know the verse will know what I am talking about.....

I JUST read the bible for the first time yesterday because I was raised an athiest, so excuse me if I sound dumb here. So, when God created heaven, did he make angels along with it? Because by the time he made Adam and Eve, the devil was already there, a fallen angel. But angels are people who die and go to heaven, right? Who got to be an angel by default? Sincere, helpful answers only please.

.....the constitutional seperation of church and state? It seems to me that christians in America want to get rid of democracy and replace it with a theocracy. They would probably crap their pants if someone took a Koran into a school let alone taught a class about it. Christianity sucks and is ruining America.
