The Essenes considered themselves to be a separate people--not because of external signs like skin color, hair color, etc., but because of the illumination of their inner life and their knowledge of the hidden mysteries of nature unknown to other men.

Indeed, almost all of the principal founders of what would later be called Christianity were Essenes--St. Ann, Joseph and Mary, John the Baptist, Jesus, John the Evangelist, etc.

They possessed their advanced knowledge and worked assiduously in secret for the triumph of the light over the darkness of the human mind.

Having a general conversation one day, not even a religious one at that, I brought this point...Considering the part of the world where Jesus lived and was born, is there not a possibility that Jesus had arab traits, skin color etc, or even the possibility that he was black. Why do people take offense to this and get so defensive? What would it matter anyway?
No one really knows what Jesus looked like, he is depicted as white with a beard and long hair. Would you become offended if I suggested that he was fat and bald?

Honest question. The fear of "going to hell" has been one of the major tools in many forms of organized religon. They way I understand it, using fear to get others to think the same way you do is terrorism. Thoughts?

Ok, how about this...

Man invents things right?? What if God is just a great inventor?? What if he was there before us, like man is before his invention, and he created us and that is why there is no evidence of anything before him?? An invention doesnt know anything beyond its creator until it is taught the things outside and around it. This can kind of explain a theory of polytheism but our perticular God doesnt want any other God acknowledged. Like if i invented something and told it that no other human exsists outside of me, and then made it so that it could never really find out. I know its a far stretch, but thats way i only want the mature to answer. Its a purely conceptual conversation. All i want to know is if you think it COULD be this way. Just because God says theres only one of Him, doenst mean there is. This is not a weak faith issue, just looking for insight and information. Not rants on how ignorant blah, blah, blah.

Take Jesus Christ for example. The biggest example of them all. Who listened? Only few. Then there was Martin Luther King, John Lennon, Tupac Shakur, Princess Dianna, Bob Geldoff, Heather McCartney, Micheal Jackson and now Angelina Jolie (Today's most recent example). We are here to love one another, care for one another and look out for one another. What come's around goes around and if we all did these thing's then what a peaceful world we would all be living in. We need to look out for God's sign's (Jehovah). Take UFO's for another different kind of example, God is dancing for us in the skie's and only few of us take notice. He is trying to entertain us!!!!! (God has a sense of humour aswell) Life is about having fun and enjoying it. We are supposed to be happy. Forget money, power and war. That's the devil's work. Don't give into the Devil. Eventually, I believe we'll all be united as one, just like we were in the beginning.

AD 51-125: The New Testament books are written, but during this same period other early Christian writings are produced--for example, the Didache (c. AD 70), 1Clement (c. 96), the Epistle of Barnabas (c. 100), and the 7 letters of Ignatius of Antioch (c. 110).

AD 140: Marcion, a businessman in Rome, teaches that there were two Gods: Yahweh, the cruel God of the OT, and Abba, the kind father of the NT. So Marcion eliminates the Old Testament as scriptures and, since he is anti-Semitic, keeps from the NT only 10 letters of Paul and 2/3 of Luke's gospel (he deletes references to Jesus' Jewishness). Marcion's "New Testament"--the first to be compiled--forces the mainstream Church to decide on a core canon: the four gospels and letters of Paul.

AD 1442: At the Council of Florence, the entire Church recognizes the 27 books of the New Testament, though does not declare them unalterable.

AD 1536: In his translation of the Bible from Greek into German, Luther removes 4 NT books (Hebrews, James, Jude, and Revelations) from their normal order and places them at the end, stating that they are less than canonical.

You cant prove love exsists except that you feel it. You cant prove hate exsists except that you feel it. You cant prove time exsists except that you feel it. You cant prove pain exsists except that you feel it. God is something that cant be proven by sight (to most anyway), but by how you feel. To get even deeper. The human body itself is mechanical. Anything that runs in a mechanical fashion was created by an intelligent design. The question is then, what was the intelligent designer?? Or who?? Did it just come out of nothing?? That big explosion?? What caused the big explosion quote unquote?? If there was nothing there to cause it, how can it be caused?? There must have been something and i want to know what atheists think that something was. Or does the answer "It just happened work for you?? Its not to be swamry or condecending, I can accept that. Please only serious answers, leave the believer bashing out, I want serious information please.

Ok then to all those gazoos out there, show me pain, love, or any of the other concepts I've mentioned as a tangible, and I'll turn atheist myself!! Especially if seeing is believing. I want a handful of pain. Not looking at brainwaves or mechanical pulses. I want to see pain, pure and simple. (i know i just set myself up for a joke...)

Kudos to deke for having one of the more "mature" answers. I feel the same way because some people say they cant feel love or pain etc. But most of our rules, laws and facts are based on uniformity, consistancy, and majority rule. Even if they are not Christian, a majority of the population of this planet feel something that is greater than us in our universe. If nthing else, can majority rule be the proof of at least A "God"?? We all agree that the sky is blue because we all agree that the word blue is an appropriate word for the color to describe it. But if i went around saying that the sky is blafnork, you'd look at me like an idiot. In THAT respect, I can see an atheists point of view. There is no proof that the sky is blue except that we all agree to call it "blue" (and i mean the color for all you layman scientists, not the reflection of water etc.) Shouldnt that be enough to make God real?? Just coming in from different sides is all...

What we see are brain waves and senapses CAUSED by pain. I said i want to see PAIN not a RESULT of pain. Thats like saying because you see marriages there has to be love. Come on yall, do better than that...
