You shouldn't. You should care what God thinks.

There's a difference between "religious" people and people who live their faith every day. If you're referring to people who are like the pharisees in the Bible, well.......that group was pretty intent on EVERYONE following every rule or else.

But there were no roots. Their focus was all about how they were viewed by other people. That's why they had such a problem with Jesus when He came on the scene. He exposed all that stuff and made them look bad.

On the other hand, if you consider someone who does his best to actually live out his faith.......tries to be a blessing everywhere he goes, treats people with respect even when they don't deserve it, and lives with integrity even when nobody is watching.......not only do I care what they think, I want to know everything about them because you can bet their lives are blessed.

I can't see a compelling reason for you to care.

~shrug~

Which would be fine with me.

If I were you I *would* care if religious people attempt to legislate their relgion into the laws of the land, though.

That's one of the reasons that a lot of non-religious people DO care what religious people think.

You shouldn't care, but you should be aware of what they are doing.

"example" What would happen if the christian right became the new U.S. government, religion will be in schools, change real education into a religious education, laws might get over turned, other religions might be suppressed, basic freedom might not be so free anymore."example"

Keep your friends close, keep your enemy closer.

You shouldn't. Religion does not count for anything. When you stand before the living God, He will not ask you if you were Baptist, Catholic, or any other religious denomination. He will only look at your heart to see if it is covered by the blood of His Son, Yashua.

You shouldn't. And religious people shouldn't care what you think.

You should care what anybody thinks, to a degree. I am a Christian, and although there are alot of pushy, judgmental "Christians" out there, I'm not one of them. As a Christian, I care what you think. I've been in your shoes. I used to hide from my neighbor because she was a Christian, and I hated being preached to.

I have discovered, that I thought by hiding from my Christian neighbor, actually I was hiding from God, because I wasn't wanting to face up to my sin.

I only care what others think, because I am a reflection of our Lord, and if I'm not salt and light to others, then I'm not representing God the way He wants me to.

Bottom line, you should care what true followers of Christ think, because they care about you.

Are you avoiding Him like I did, by avoiding and feeling animosity toward Believers?

The opinions of our, to put it loosely, "peers" are important to us.
It allows us to form an opinion, inside ourselves, of where we 'fit it' in society.
So yes, in short, what people think is important.
The value you put on an individual's opinion of you is your choice.
What your parent, or your teacher, or your best friend thinks of you is probably more 'valuable', more important to your picture of yourself, than what the guy who drives the bus (for instance) thinks of you.
Only you can choose how 'valuable' the opinion of another person is, to you.
Okay? Easy? Why didn't anyone say this before?
Beats me... It's only common sense.
Ah, there you go.
I'm in R&S, where common sense is as rare as hen's teeth.

Because when you're brought up, as I was, in a country that widely believes in things like heaven and hell, sometimes it just makes sense to check yourself against it even if such concepts make no LOGICAL sense. A part of you will always wonder if you're wrong because the Christians paint such a horrible picture of what happens if you don't follow their ways.

Kind of like a dog that used to live with someone who beat them constantly. They're still going to flinch, even when you go to pet them, even though they know you wouldn't hurt them.

No one wishes you harm! Think what you want to think. And let us think what we wish to think. We just wish that people could look to the bright side and not be so negative about our beliefs.
