I am a new Christian, and the problem I am having is I cannot seem to find a church that I fit into.I am not used to Charistmatic style worship, and my heart doesn't call me in that direction.I am in the Georgia area, and all I really desire is a small bible based church where I can grow spiritually without the intimidation of a huge crowd and no personal time with the pastor. My heart and spriit do not feel fed in big churches and I need one on one personal time.WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Seek counsel from friends who attend churches. Try different churches. Also consider calling the denomination office of different churches. They may be able to recommend one that fits your desire.

But keep within the standard of a good Bible believing church that preaches sound doctrine.

I'm glad you chose Christ. First, pray for guidance in this matter. God has a plan for you and a church He wants you to attend. I have been going to Calvary Chapel, first in California, now in Virginia and have found it to be the best for me. The church in CA was large, the one here is small. We basically worship with traditional and modern songs, then study the bible. Everyone brings theirs and we go through each chapter. It is awesome and I have never been so satisfied and learned so much. The people are god loving and prayer is an important aspect. There are no rituals or traditions to interfere with the study of the Word.Calvary Chapel has a casual dress code, but that doesn't mean one can't get fancy. It just means it's okay if you have nothing but jeans, as I do. You might like the church. If you go to www.calvarychapel.com and click on churches, you can find one in Georgia, or e-mail me and I can help you.
I pray that the Lord will lead you to the right place and for your heart to be open to it. God bless you.
P.S. God may want you in a church where you don't necessarily like it on first glance. Give it a chance. Sometimes we can see the blessings a little down the road. Keep praying about it. It's important to belong to a fellowship that will 'feed' you and keep you growing in your walk with the Lord.

Look for a Calvary Chapel There are about 2500 of them across the USA. They are usually small. They have Maranatha style music, and verse by verse Bible study. They are not evangelistic. Calvary is a good place to start. It is safe from doctrinal errors. Calvary Chapel is a good place to receive Biblical teaching while you are looking for the place God would have you. You can look them up on the web-they have a link to all the churches in all the states.
There are few good churches left this day and time, many have gone into much error. There are some whole denominations that are apostate.
Generally speaking (but not always) Southern Baptist, Independent Baptist, American Baptist, Bible Church, Presbyterian, and very few Independent churches are usually straight. Independent baptist may be a little too tight in some areas, and Presbyterian may be too old fashioned, but they are straight.
I would stay away from Catholic, Episcopal/Anglican, Methodist, Lutheran, Pentecostal/Charismatic, all the liberal churches. And the right fringe, Seventh Day Adventist, Church of Christ. And of course watch out for cults such as Jehovah's Witness and Mormon (LDS,RLDS, Community of Christ).

Can you find a small group, house church, Bible study, or prayer group that meets in your area? If not try this. Everyday read a chapter in Proverbs, ( there are 31 so read the chapter that matches today's date) learn all you can about Jesus Christ. Ask the Holy Spirit to make the Word real to you. Read Isaiah, Psalms and the Gospels pertaining to Christ. If you are more mature spiritually Read Hebrews. Ch10 and the others that show what the New Covenant did for us. When you know your identity in Christ go to the unchurched and share a little of Jesus's hope with love to the hurting- pray for them and ask Jesus to extend His hand to heal their hurts. Watch our for Pharisees! Do the Word and make disciples and you'll be fine. Be joyful-wisdom will com!

Unfotunately, you have boarde on the wrong bus.Christainity was mandatory for the Jews of that age who had become too greedy to spare the alms for the poor and too ferocious to forgive and not to take revenge. It was neither meant for all races and all times to come.
However, what way you like to worship may be correct or incorrect but essential thing is the growth of your spirituality, which does not call for facing the crowd, necessarily. You must look for ways and means for establishing a contact with living God not with pastor. This cannot be provided peace and spiritual attainments by a religion intended for a transitory phase. You must look for a religion providing giudence for the present period and with universal characteristics.

First read the Bible which clearly states that Jesus Christ founded one Church for all mankind, that He desires all people to belong to that one Church, and that He never authorized the founding of any other churches in His name, and that He warns against participation in such manmade churches. Then look at history, to determine which Church is the one He founded for you. That isn't difficult, since there was only one Christian Church on earth for over a thousand years after Christ. The Holy Catholic Church.

First of all watch out for that old trap "how I feel"
feelings are deceptive, I don't always "feel"like loving my wife but I Choose to do so.
Personally I'd find a small Miss. Synod Lutheran Church (Can't tell I'm partial) they'll go out of they're way to be nice to you and to make sure you understand what they believe and why they believe it which is better then most "feel good" churches would do.

Well I am a Baptist and its small but not to small. I am the same as you. I want to be able to know my pastor and the others who attend the church as well. Try a Baptist church for a week or two and see what you think. Then try a Methodist church for a week or so, and so on.

Just based on what you wrote, I suggest you go to one of your local Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. You can look it up in your yellow pages or go to the site (in source) and fill it out, and someone will contact you.

But at the Kingdom Hall, there are meetings filled with spiritual input. All the sermons and public discourses are bible based. No one is just ranting on about their opinion.

So, give it a try if you like. Hope this helped ya some.

- Matthew 5:3 - “Happy are those conscious of their spiritual need, since the kingdom of the heavens belongs to them."
