My kids are 16, 19, and 22. And they have seen it. It is not for enjoyment, and Good friday is not a holiday it is a Holy day.

I like your idea, but Holy Days can be holidays and religious education can be good fun. Good Friday is good because Jesus destroyed the power of the enemy that day, exactly when the enemy thought he won the ultimate victory. I do consider that a reason to celebrate and i will go to Mass at least once that day. Peace be with you

Why would you want to make that movie a tradition? It's wrought with excessive violence and gore. The story of Jesus' last days can be told in a much less painful way while still getting the point across.

Try the 1973 version of Jesus Christ Superstar instead. It's not nearly the downer that The Passion is.

Ted Neely does a credible job as Jesus, while Carl Anderson is an excellent Judas. They square off beautifully in the Garden of Gethsemane. Yvonne Elliman is mesmerizing as Mary Magdalene and has an incredible voice.

The movie is mainly upbeat and features a rousing musical score by Andrew Lloyd Webber (Evita, The Phantom of the Opera). Most moving of all is the actor who portrays a sympathetic Pilate. Regrettably, I forget his name.

Looks like I'm going to be working Friday....however, Saturday I'll be in rehearsals for an illustrated sermon on Sunday and will be portraying one of the mourners at the Cross.

That makes for a great holiday tradition!

A bit too violent for kids, I think.
Ease into it and go and see a gang fight first.

Great movie, but the realism is astounding and rather confronting.

I believe that is a worthwhile goal. It is not one for everyone but if it fits for your family, great!

I don't think it's appropriate viewing for young children.
It really should have gotten an x rating for violence.
