We don't make the bible to fit us, We have to fit the bible, God's word never changes for anyone. Many try to say we are living in modern time, that is true, but we have to take our life & put it back into the Bible, & not try to bring the bible up to us as we think it should be.

Well since people created religion in the first place then it makes perfect sense that religion would have to try and fit the people. When the basic principals of that religion no longer fit the people, and they can no longer twist it into what they need it to be in order that they can feel good about themselves in a convenient manner, then the religion is outdated and considered false. Historically this has happened many times, and will happen many times in the future.

--AS FAR as religion of the people is concerned, if the emphasis is in conforming to the organization, then the true reason for religion existing is by far not for the reason of helping us come closer to God & Christ!
--ON THE other hand if a religion is so flexible especially in morals, doctrine etc. to fit individuals it certainly cannot be true?
--JESUS made clear what the purpose of his Christianity is:
--At John 4:24 He simply stated:
(John 4:23-24) . . . Nevertheless, the hour is coming, and it is now, when the true worshipers will worship the Father with spirit and truth, for, indeed, the Father is looking for suchlike ones to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit, and those worshiping him must worship with spirit and truth.”
His worship was not a religion of convience it was both with truth--God's word, & his sincerety in practicing it!--
--AND SO should ours be!

I think a person needs to follow a certain discipline in life ,religion is an excellent discipline for the soul and body.... well depending on religion (fire worshipers get burned a lot :P ) iam a Muslim and I love it and no one forced me to chose this religion not even my parents, sure you'll get influenced by your parents and the environment around you but in the end everyone makes HIS/HER choice alone ( actually no one can make anyone believe in something they don't want to believe in) in the end its a personal thing between the creature and the Creator so God bless you and good luck.

Religion should try to tell the truth and individual should try to pursue the truth. Individual should try to fit the religion if and only if the religion is the truth.

The thing about religion is that it provides a powerful language by which ANY ideology can be justified.
Even if the ENTIRE WORLD was religious, and no atheists existed, and even if all the religious people were Christian, we would still argue over "Which Jesus are you talking about?"
"My Jesus is not the kind of Jesus you are describing."
So based on personal bias, you will ultimately end up adopting ONE VERSION of any religion.
We are all someone else's heretic.

The individual should try to fit the religion, but I prefer to call it "relationship".
Why?
Because God is God and never changing. So, He will not conform Himself to our perception of Him.
It is our responsibility to get to know Him, and in return, He will show us His character. And a relationship begins.
I'm not talking about 'religion" , which is rules and regulations, but a relationship one-on-one with God, which is what all man should strive for.
