If you feel inspired to write something you truly feel is inspired , by all means do it . If you feel truly inspired to paint or draw or sculpt or sing anything inspired - DO IT . It all comes from the same source. and we need inspiration now more than ever.

They didn't write the entire bible. The Old Testament is actually the Hebrew Septuagint (from what I understand, this is not the modern day Jewish 'bible'). Many of the books that are in the original OT from the bible are actually quoted and referred to throughout the NT (some of these books were removed by Protestants, but that's another story-- er, argument). As for the New Testament, yes, you could say that "Catholics" were the authors of the New Testament, because the Catholic Church is the original and first Christian Church (which all the apostles were part of in the beginning when Jesus established it-- and since they were essentially Catholic and wrote the books/letters included in the bible then you could say that technically Catholics wrote it). They were the ones responsible for carrying on the sacred Tradition established by Christ and passing on the good news to future generations. Eventually, because of differences in canon and disputes between the churches, the Church decided that they should put together an official Canon. That canon became the bible. The bible wasn't published to be the authority on the Word of God. It was published to be more of a 'guidebook' in teaching and demonstrating the Word of God (to show that Jesus was the Messiah). It was supposed to get everyone on the same page so there wasn't any more problems....obviously that didn't work out quite how they intended now did it? The Church holds on to many other sacred writings that were not included in the Bible, but those writings reference many of the writings of the Apostles that are in the Bible. These writings are from some of the greatest teachers the Church ever had, and they even maintain online libraries so you can go read and see just how the early Church Fathers interpreted scripture and exactly what they believed. My advice to you is to look up and read about the history of the Bible; it's a real eye-opener.

Yes. If the inspiration was truly divine, God could order anyone to write a new "book". How would we know it was divinely written? That my friend is a whole other can of worms to be opened.

And yes, in Revelations it does say not to add or take away any words. But that was written in the book of Revelations. At the time Revelations was written there was no Bible as we know it today.

Now, some can interpret that to mean it was meant for that specific book of the Bible, while others will interpret that since Revelation was choosen to be part of the Bible it is to be applied to the entire Bible.

Only God knows for sure. The best we can do is try to follow him and his guidance. Seek the path to God. Or not....it's your choice.

We have no way of knowing for sure if the bible was written through divine inspiration. The words in the bible were written by men and we don't know what kind of conditions were going on while it was being written. It's also been interpreted many times, so we can't even be sure if we have the correct meaning for things we read in the bible. That's why people should not take it so literally. Use it as a guide if it makes sense to them, but don't use it as a rule of thumb that's set in stone. I believe divine inspiration comes through to alot of people, even in today's world. It's up to each one of us to decide what makes sense to us and what we truly believe.

The Bible was written by devine inspiration and there is therefore no need to improve on it because God's word still stands and is valid do you really think that humans could improve on God's word? When God decides that he wants us to have more information he will provide it but until that time the Bible is our information. We do not need anything else right now, there is nothing wrong with the Bible we have got.

Sure, but the key words are 'divine inspiration'.

Jesus picked His disciples and trained them to be apostles.
There has not been a divinely inspired word from God since the final words of John the last witness of Jesus Christ.

But if someone were to speak the word of God and it did not contradict the existing word of God, His character, nature or promises, then I would accept it. God never changes.

The Mormons tried it.
If God so chooses to give us another inspired message, he can. But I think the last chapter in Revelation would deter that. It says that anyone who adds to or takes away from these words will be punished with the punishments within it. So I'd be wary of anyone who claims to have had an inspired message from God to be added to or replace the Bible.

No. The last 27 book of the Bible were written by men who actually saw the resurrected Christ. We have no one today who can make that claim, and it be believable.

I believe the Bible says to not take words away or add words to it, so I doubt God will inspire anyone to write another bible.

The point is that it was NOT written by divine inspiration at all;) it was written, instead, by many different MEN throughout different periods of time, different centuries as a matter of fact;) History proves it. So...the answer to your question is quite rethoric;)
