Just curious about Matthew 24. Jesus talks about the elite. Is he referring to a group after the rapture or of all born again Christians in the present time? (if the end would start now) Reading the verse if he is talking about all of us...the idea of pre trib rapture sounds kinda bogus. You're opinions please

I was leaving a smoothie shop with my son today. We had our smoothies in our hands and heading for the car. There was this young man dressed in a suit heading straight for us. I was sure he was a salesman because he was wearing a name badge. He was just about nose to nose with me and asked me if I accepted Jesus Christ as my savior. He identified himself as a missionary with the LDS church. I told him very politely, "no thank you", which would mean I'm not interested in what you have to say. Right? Well, he continued on asking me how important I thought it was to have religion in my life. Then he asked if I heard of the LDS church and kept walking after my son and I. I turned to him and said "I really don't have time for this right now and I'm not interested". He asked if I would like to schedule a meeting. Why do they do this? Why do they insist on pushing it? He seemed like a car salesman or something. Did he think he could convert me into another way of thinking/believing?

What went in and out of the Bible was controlled by a single body for almost 1000 years and it was notorious for being corrupt and loved to have absolute control over its people so why exactly does everyone put so much faith in it. (By the way I was talking about the Catholic church if you didn't already know.)

Why do I see so many of you on this board ignoring the very words of the bible that say "judge not lest ye be judged"? And before you go on a rant claiming I know nothing of the bible (it's happened before), I want to add that I grew up in a Catholic family that made the children go to Sunday School and Vacation Bible school when it was time.

Anyway, who are you to sit there on your behind and judge people in need? I just read a question for a prayer request for a highly respected and well known member of this board who is a good person to everyone and replies with kindness when given evil. The christians on this question were damning her to hell for her beliefs, saying they wouldn't pray for her, and all around giving a bad example of how a true christian should act. How do the TRUE christians feel about how these members of your community acted?

Jesus said (John 13:34-35)"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." But some poor kid here just wanted a scripture reference and his fellow Christians misjudged his question and the gang bang was on. For fifty plus years I've watched "Christians" tear at one another like wild dogs. This, more than anything, led me to conclude conversion and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit is a fraud. The compassionate mostly remain so, the hard-hearted and petty mostly remain so. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come." But not really. There's no general effect as there should be if that scripture is true. I ask you: Could Jesus justly blame anyone for concluding he was just a man given the way his followers treat each other here every day? I think not.

If you believe a book and what you call a prophet, says, then where do you draw the line. Also, if you say you should have faith, why must your faith effect other peoples reations, by telling them where they are going to go when they die. And, i can see heaven but how can you have faith in a terrible place like hell. That means you truely want people to die, burn, and suffer for ever and ever while your living it up in paradise.

Over 40 authors wrote the Bible over a period of 1600 years. God directed and blended their distinctive inputs into this inspired, infallible and complete revelation. A single unified theme and no contradictions demonstrates its miraculous nature. Each of the 66 books (39 Old Testament and 27 New Testament), bear God's stamp of authority and authorship. Applying the law of probability to the Bible's fulfilled prophecies, the statistician, Gallup, claimed to have proved God mathematically.

Its message is that man can be accepted by God, through Jesus Christ alone.

Certain facts unknown to man when the Bible was written, reveal its Author is all-knowing. Archeological discovery often underlines its historical accuracy. The Bible's deep insights into human nature indicate the mind of the master psychologist, who knows exactly how we 'tick'.

God speaks to all honest, humble, seeking readers of the Bible. Read it, Pray that God will speak to you. You will find God in His Word.

Rather it's other Christians, pagans,Jews, Muslims. Why can't they stay out of people personal lives? It's nobody business what I do in my personal life, what I believe, who I love, and who I want to marry. It seems like Christians want to keep people from being happy unless they live exactly like them. They want to control every aspect of a person's life. They wanna pass laws that keep people from living their life the way they see fit. Christianity seems to be more of a slavery than freedom cause your not allowed to be unique or different or choose what you think is best for your life. They as a whole think they know whats best for everyone on the planet that they can't just leave people alone. Let people live and die the way they want to. Than the world won't see as the meddling fools you are.

Jesus said (John 13:34-35)"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

Some poor guy here asked for a simple scipture reference that he and his girlfriend were trying to remember and a dozen Christians misjudged his motives and judged him and lectured him and most didn't even get the verse he wanted right. This sort of behavior, more than anything, led me to conclude conversion and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit is a fraud. The compassionate mostly remain so, the hard-hearted and petty mostly remain so. For fifty plus years I've watched "Christians" tear at one another like wild dogs. As a pastor it was nauseating to watch and other pastors were among the worst, backbiting and jockeying for position. Can Jesus justly blame anyone for concluding he was just a man given the way his followers treat each other and have from day he died?

I was raised in a Baptist family, led to believe in a supernatural Creator and his Son. I'm 31 now, and struggle to find the faith I had growing up, in light of these observations:

1. It was easy for me to see the folly in stories from Mormonism and Islam. Stories about magical plates and seer stones, and flying horses. As a Christian, why is it so easy for one to see the mythological properties of other religions as fiction, and yet be able explain away the mystical elements of Christianity?

2. How do you explain the fact that the stories surrounding Christianity are not original, but rather remarkably similar, even identical, to ancient pagan beliefs? The immacculate conception, the rock tomb burial and resurrection after three days, communion, Christmas, Easter all have strong ties to pre-Christian pagan theologies.

I'd love to believe that accepting Christ will get me to Heaven, and I pray for that faith, but I can't force myself to believe. What do ya'll think?

Logically, there can be no creation without a creator, no design without a designer, and no laws without a law maker.

All space exploration relies on the application of accepted laws of mathematics and physics.

Christians say that any honest enquirer can readily see that God existed and designed the Universe, and made the laws that apply in it.

Did your computor, wrist-watch or car engine just "happen"? Of course not" Who would deny the existence of manufacturers like Dell, Seiko, or Ford? Similarly, God's creating and designing work cannot be denied.

The Bible says the Heavens declare both God's glory and righteousness.

Or, to be down to earth, what happens if you drop a glass? Who framed that law of gravity?

What do you think is wrong with some of the people on this board? And why do they feel the obsessive need to dictate to others how to live, following them around, judging every action while they themselves, for example, are continual liars and never speak the truth about anything? How do these kinds of "people" make you feel? And how do you rise above such airheaded overblown egos? Personally, I think they're pathetic and in need of attention. I think they were ignored as children and are not desperately seeking the attention they never received as children. Why can't they be comfortable with themselves? Are they really such bad people that they can't be themselves and need to inflict injury upon others, while rejoicing in any hard time their victims suffer through? I know this isn't what christianity says, but so many do act like this. They act so contrary to christt. And my own religion isn't left out of this either, I've seen some of the crazy statements. How do you feel?

Let's take a look and see what else Leviticus says shall we?

Apparently Four legged birds are an abomination (11:20)

Pigs are abominations too (11:7-8) Stay away from the bacon then folks!

Better not wear cloth made with two kinds of fibers, that's an abomination too (19:19)

Apparently handicapped people are abominations too (21:16-23) Nice guy your god huh?

Don't eat anything with blood, don't round the corners of your head, mar the corners of your beard, make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, or print any marks on you. 19:26-28

Bats are unclean birds (psst, they're not, they're mammals, you'd think a book that you yourselves say is "inspired by god himself" would be a bit more accurate. But no.) (11:13)

Rabbits chew thier cud (they don't of course, anyone who takes a basic biology course knows that much) (11:5)

I could go on and on but I won't. Suffice to say that following the "laws" set forth by Leviticus is the most asinine thing I've ever heard.
