a friend of mine told me that Harry Potter is a remake of the bible... How is that possible?

He also said that the Harry Potter books have a lot of things resembling things from the bible.... I have never read any Harry Potter books, so don't know... IS THIS TRUE?

I intially responded to this earlier posting and then looked in my Bible. Here is my conclusion: Colossians chapter 3 : Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
Then verses 5-7 states: Put to death therefore whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. I believe that this does imply towards things such as masturbation. There was no word for self gratification during those times. Or else it would have probably appeared in the Bible. Any thoughts?

I wonder what the border line is between heaven and hell. It is like somebody hardly getting a passing grade what is Gods decision I wonder. Don't tell me believing in Jesus because that is not good enough. I know a lot of people who are Chistians in name only. Look at the way a person acts that will tell you everything you need to know. I wonder if there is a middle between heaven and hell. Someone who was not good enough for heaven and not bad enough for hell.

take the whole god aspect out of the scene, & you got this:

a servant comes to mary, a engaged woman, telling her that she is pregnant wih his masters child. worse yet, this master will only help from afar, it is up to her & her fiance to raise this child up right & proper.

put god back into the scenerio, & it's like many other stories that are labled under "mythology", like hercules.
put christianity into it, & it's "holy", "humbling", & "devine".

why?

If it is possible to cleanse sin from our bodies, why wouldn't God just allow us to enter heaven in our earthly form? Some versions of scripture use the words forgiven of your sin and some use the word cleansed of sin. Wash me and I will be whiter then snow...(this appears to indicate washing as opposed to just cancelling a debt owed.) I argue that the body or flesh is impossible to cleanse but the spirit or soul may be cleansed from the body’s genetic sinfulness. If our DNA is polluted by sin, and our souls live in communion with our bodies, then our souls can become polluted by the effects of a sinful body. The soul on the other hand is eternal and can be cleansed from sin unto eternal life. Without this cleansing, the soul is condemned to suffer eternally in torment. This is the spiritual act of suicide. By not allowing the sin cleansing blood to sanctify the soul by separating the flesh from the spirit, the person or soul of the non-believer is condemned.

Hello,
I am doing some reasearch for a Seminary assignment and I am looking for honest feedback from someone who has never really gone to church, and/or chooses not to in their adult life. I really would like some detailed feedback and I would appreciate your honesty. Thank you.

1. What are your views of God?
2. What is your impression of Christian people?
3. What do you think about Jesus?
4. If you believe in a heaven, do you think you will go there after you die? If so, why?
5. If you don’t believe in a God at all, what do you say the meaning of life is?
6. If you had a platform to stand on and if everyone was willing to listen, what would you specifically tell Christians?

If the Spirit of God lives in us, does he live in our flesh or in our souls? The Parakleet, The helper is in us to guide us and subdue the effects that sin has in our flesh so we may overcome or sinful desires. We are at war with the fleshly desires. It's not like the Spirit takes residence in our medulla oblongata and juices our bodies with sin antidote. Securing a place in eternal bliss is the job of the obedient follower of the son of God. Denying the sinful desires of the flesh which has been poisoned by the hideous, death inducing, DNA altering fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

basically on the rare case where a child is left in a jungle at a young age and deprived of human affection. they will often find community with animals. and will take on the traits and actions of these animals. sometimes even being able to communicate with them on some level. this even happened in Russia with a Girl that lived on a farm and was left to live in the dog pens.

the long term effects are a decreased ability to learn and most times an inability to speak.

this would suggest that we are products of enviroment. and that deprived of human contact and what society accepts as moral and right the human will revert to being an animal. furthermore will associate oneself with the nearest friendly animal.

is this a case for evolution of for the gods?

I constantly read things like, "the human body is far too complex to have happened randomly."

Well, how many times throughout history have naysayers claimed supernatural explanation because any other answer *seemed* humanly impossible?

When you can't understand something, of course "god" looks attractive. But when a logical, natural explanation is presented, only a fool denies the reality set in front of them.

This is when theists' sputter, "well, religion doesn't claim to explain scientific phenomenon!" Why then is it constantly trying to dissect science, pointing towards an ever shrinking collective of things science can't yet explain as proof of its so called "infallibility?"

When religion is proven wrong, it always attempts to rationalize itself, because lets face it, any admission of fallacy completely undermines a doctrine that claims infallibility.

Science simply says, "I was wrong", and moves forward.

Isn't this the same thing humans do in order to grow?

It could've been worse if someone cut off his eye-lids and let the sun torture him or mash his balls into a jelly and stick a hot iron poker up his rear. He wasn't even slowly dismembered.
