If the Spirit of God lives in us, does he live in our flesh or in our souls? The Parakleet, The helper is in us to guide us and subdue the effects that sin has in our flesh so we may overcome or sinful desires. We are at war with the fleshly desires. It's not like the Spirit takes residence in our medulla oblongata and juices our bodies with sin antidote. Securing a place in eternal bliss is the job of the obedient follower of the son of God. Denying the sinful desires of the flesh which has been poisoned by the hideous, death inducing, DNA altering fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

I think Paul said the Spirit and Flesh war against each other, in Romans. Our natural tendencies are to follow the fleshly desires because we are drawn naturally by the Lust of the eyes, Lust of the flesh and Pride of life (1 John 2:16). So we must transform ourselves by prayer and reading God's word. If you feed the flesh, lets say watching the junk on TV day in and day out, you'll be very weak spiritually. Prayer and God's word will feed the spirit and it becomes much easier to resist fleshly desires. Whichever one is fed, it is strongest in your life. That's what I find in my life, anyway. I know for me it is painfully evident when I lack one way or the other.

Bimp: The answer to your question posed is this. The Holy Spirit, is the spiritual entity, which imparts to its imbibers - the "devine nature" from God ( Holiness). This is what is known as "sanctification process" (placed apart for a holy purpose). The Holy Spirit works within the mind - the "seat" of human actions. That is why "conversion" entails internalization of the Holy Spirit, which in turn, enables a relationship with God, the Father, through Jesus Christ.

First of all, God is not a spirit or anything we could we perceive with our limited knowledge. His help or mercy is not restricted to the human flesh or human spirit.Since human spirit is to long laste, as such more emphasis shall be on the saving the soul than on the flesh of rather transitory stage.

The "spirit of God" IS your soul. I don't get why no one else understands this. God put one small tiny portion of Himself into Adam and from that one small tiny portion a Man - who is human with the breath of God in every cell - is formed. The rest is history, so to speak.

Each of us carries a small part of God with us, it IS your soul, and when you are done with this life, it goes back to God. What condition it is in is up to you, the Man.

We all know that physical conditions can cause the "spirits" of a person to lower; sin is anything that causes the body or the Spirit harm.

So the answer is both, flesh and Spirit.

The Spirit of God is found everywhere, in your soul, in your body, everwhere is God's Spirit!

It's not easy to accept and to live by this truth because we are taught that God is in heaven, not on earth, and moreso, not in us, because we are sinners. God gave us the flesh so our soul can experience God, that's what i believe.

Suppresing ourselves with these experiences also suppresses our soul to experience ITSELF.

We don't fight to overcome earthly desires, we just choose to experience the soul's desires.

Peace y'all!

Bless us!

The meaning of "flesh" is not referring to our "fleshly bodies" but rather the "nature of man". We were born in sin and shaped in iniquity, meaning our nature is of a sinful nature and the Spirit of God aids in the renewing of our minds when we are born again and continue to abide in the vine, which is Jesus Christ.

Both.Through God we receive both spiritual and physical healing.Anyway,my theory is that the soul and the flesh are interwined and both affect one another.Or,to put it another way,I believe the flesh is a physical manifestation of the soul.

Short answer, both, by being inspired not to sin of the flesh, we are "saving" our souls.

Personally I believe this is the only place we NEED flesh, once we transcend, we don't require the physical shells that hold our souls.

When you become a born again believer you get a brand new soul but still in a worldly body that wants to sin. The Holy spirit will dwell in you and you must pray earnestly for guidance, strength , for how the lord will lead you in your life. The apostle Paul lived with a skin infirmity , and asked God to heal it three times..God said no and gave paul the strength and will to live with it.
