If it is possible to cleanse sin from our bodies, why wouldn't God just allow us to enter heaven in our earthly form? Some versions of scripture use the words forgiven of your sin and some use the word cleansed of sin. Wash me and I will be whiter then snow...(this appears to indicate washing as opposed to just cancelling a debt owed.) I argue that the body or flesh is impossible to cleanse but the spirit or soul may be cleansed from the body’s genetic sinfulness. If our DNA is polluted by sin, and our souls live in communion with our bodies, then our souls can become polluted by the effects of a sinful body. The soul on the other hand is eternal and can be cleansed from sin unto eternal life. Without this cleansing, the soul is condemned to suffer eternally in torment. This is the spiritual act of suicide. By not allowing the sin cleansing blood to sanctify the soul by separating the flesh from the spirit, the person or soul of the non-believer is condemned.
