take the whole god aspect out of the scene, & you got this:
a servant comes to mary, a engaged woman, telling her that she is pregnant wih his masters child. worse yet, this master will only help from afar, it is up to her & her fiance to raise this child up right & proper.
put god back into the scenerio, & it's like many other stories that are labled under "mythology", like hercules.
put christianity into it, & it's "holy", "humbling", & "devine".
