Because God is holy and perfect. He cannot tolerate sin of any kind. If he tolerated or allowed even one sin he would no longer be holy, he would therefore no longer be God. By his very nature he cannot allow sinful beings to go unpunished. The punishment for sin is death. Because God loves people he made a way for us to be united with him forever. Christ was perfect, therefore he did not need to die for his own sins. Since he did not need to die for himself, he could die for all of our sins. One perfect man could die for another(if you could ever find a perfect man. But, only God can die for everyone's sin. Jesus was the son of God, he is fully God and was entirely human. He was the only human who could ever die for the sins of all people.

The scriptures as they have been laid out from the beginning, point to the need for a sacrifice to forgive or cleanse from sin. Atonement is the term used for the result of a sacrifice. In the OT the atonement was temporary because the spirit of God was not living within mankind in the same way as after the crucifixion. The atonement provided mankind after the crucifixion was a permanent atonement for the soul who believes and becomes a saint of God. Once the blood has been applied through faith the spirit of God begins to set the believer apart and causes them to become anew. Once the bond is broken between our old flesh (sin scared DNA) and our immortal soul, the renewing of the heart and mind can begin. We may still be subject to our dying bodies but our soul is being liberated to enjoy eternal life with God. The blood sacrifice of God for God was the only way to overcome the power of death over the soul. The resurrection of the Messiah was the proof of his victory over the grave which is the destination of all flesh. The resurrected body of Messiah was a pure unblemished example of what our bodies will be like after the last trumpet. Physical yet spiritually pure.

God had ordained that without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sin. Sin and death go hand in hand. God Himself provided the first sacrifice for sin when He gave Adam and Eve the skins to cover their nakedness after their eyes were opened to good and evil. They made an attempt to cover themselves with leaves, but God was the only one who could cover them. This is a picture of us, when we try to depend upon our own righteousness to make us right with God. We cannot cover even one sin ourselves. God knows this better than anyone. It took one who was without sin to die for our sin. So He provided the perfect sacrifice to cover our sins when He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus, to come to Earth, live perfectly, and die on a cross. This is how much He loves us. He could have said " well, you guys really blew it this time" and just wiped us out, but He loves His creation and wants us to be with Him forever. But we have to agree with Him that we are sinners, and we need a Saviour, and then turn away from sin and submit to Him, and follow Him, according to His word. God is loving and kind, but He is also holy and righteous, and to forgive sin without payment would be against His nature. But He has provided the payment, all we have to do is accept it. That is why most people are so offended with it, because we are like little children, "I can do it myself, or if I can't do it myself, then I don't want it". They don't see that their pride is damning them. Consider Jesus, without Him there is no hope.

A lot of people seem to have a problem with this. I don't know why, perhaps the wording is difficult to absorb.
Jesus came to tell you that your sins were already forgiven. He had to die, not to show God how much we needed forgiving, but to show US that death is not the end. By dying then coming back, He showed us the way to God. By dying and coming back, He told us the truth about the after of death. By dying and coming back, He gave us life, because now we have no fear of death.
He defeated death. Too bad He had to die to do it. It's what they call a "sacrifice", to die making a way for a loved one.
Sorry this is long, but I'm almost done lol. I'm hoping that you can see now that what Jesus did was for us, not God. We are the ones who needed "proof" there is life after death, we are the ones who needed to hear about the way, the truth, and the life. God knew exactly what we needed to see, and He provided it. :)

God stated that without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of Sin. Do you really think if there was any other way that God would have done that? Do you think He enjoyed seeing His son suffer for the sins of the world- however because of His love for that world, He did. Romans 6:23 states- "The wages of sin is death, BUT the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord". We could never pay the price for our sin- so God sent His precious Son to be our sacrificial lamb.

"Without the shedding of blood is no remission of sins." - Hebrews 9:22
Shedding of blood is necessary, because people just don't understand how vile sin is to God, who is holy and pure. Sin is like Kryptonite to God; it cannot come anywhere near Him. To keep the balance in the Universe, payment must be made for wrongdoings. In the OT days, they would have to sacrifice animals for this blood payment. When Christ came, He became the "Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world". He was sacrificed once for all, so that we no longer have to sacrifice animals, and we don't have to pay the penalty ourselves. However, those who reject this free gift WILL have to pay the penalty themselves, which is eternal death.

Your question is very good. It has been pounded into heads for a long time so there are not too many people who can address this with an open mind.
This is what I get form logic. Jesus gave his life for us because he had fore knowledge of the outcome of his actions. Considerably better than our skills. To save us he had to be nailed to a tree. He had a his choice and he chose this sacrifice for us. If he was acting on self interest he would have found a better outcome for himself. Given the constraints of being human this may have been the best outcome for us.

God hates sin. When Jesus was sacrificed he was without sin. In those days the people would sacrifice a pure white lamb or a White dove to God to ask for forgiveness. Jesus was our lamb. Pure and without sin. That way we can ask God to forgive our sins in Jesus name.

God is holy and righteous and if he didn't carry a punishment for sins, he would be allowing evil to exist without consequence.
If God did not punish someone because that person said he was sorry and would not do it again, then is God being just? After all, if he did not exercise the punishment for breaking his law, then he is permitting evil to exist without proclaiming its error or dealing with its consequence.
In Christianity, every sin is dealt with by God in one of two ways. Either God satisfies the law by exercising his punishment upon the sinner by sending him to eternal damnation, or, he places the sins of the person on Jesus Christ who suffers the punishment in place of the person.
Either way, the justice of God is never ignored. It is proper that sin be dealt with by a punishment relative to the sin. To not do so is to not be just. In this way, sin is dealt with by an act of justice.

Good question. Seems logical to think that God could forgive our sins if we repented and tried to live our lives in the way He wanted. In the end we aren't perfect and so His Mercy is what brings us to Heaven. God is All Loving, All Merciful, and All Mighty. What would He "need" with anything? He is free from needs and wants.
