The church I was raised in was a Southern Baptist church. We used to have hay rides and sing in the choir.

I went to college, got married, moved across the country and when I visited again to my old hometown, I noticed that on Sunday, when I went back to my old church, There were hardly any people there anymore!

It went from about 300 people to about 50, in less than 20 years!

The town has grown, though, and there are a lot of kids, etc. But I noticed that the other churches in town seemed to have, largely empty parking lots.

I never noticed this before because I stopped going to church when I went to college and I just wanted to go back for "old time's" sake.

I read, recently that in England the same thing is happening... The churches are practically empty?!?

What is causing all this?

Has Christianity been disproven scientifically or something?

HI,
I learned couple of years ago in one my Islamic classes that every Muslim needs to learn 5 things in life.
1. learn how to drive.
2. learn how to swim
3. learn how to shoot (self defense)
However, i can not recall the last 2 things. I have contacted couple of Islamic sites but no one seems to responses to the questions i have and it has been over a month.

I wondering if anyone know the last 2 things needed to learn?

I live in Mexico, I live in a small place in the south of Mexico, I've heard the muslims give free quran.. I want a Free Quran if someone knows where in Mexico can I find one.. plz tell me or in USA if they can send me one even it will be in english it's Ok for me I am learning english

Are you born Catholic if Just one of your parents is catholic or how does that work, I mean do you have to go to the church to make your child Catholic, Is there some ceremony or something? Do Godparents have to be members of the Catholic church?
I'm trying to learn about the religion, and I must say, I don't know much!
Any Info about the Catholic religion would help! :-)

In the bible seeing the fortune or anything like that is forbidden but what if you dream about events and the events came true? Would that be a sin.

Why do religions persist in saying we are the only life in it. The universe is huge why would a god waste all his energy creating such a vast thing and only have one planet with any forms of life in it.
Even if he then created the univers with the millions of Galaxies in it and just put one planet with life on it in each galaxy these life forms would never meet.
But lets go with the books God created the univers and then put man on Earth and then decides there will be a judgment day when everybody will be judged and the good people go to heaven and the bad people goto hell. What is the point of the rest of the universe.
Within all the scientific and ecological discoveries that we have made all the major proffesors are saying it s not possible that we are the only planet in the universe with life on it. Why cant religions accept this..and if proof is found that life has existed or exists on other planets will the major religions throw the old books away and re-invent themselves ?

I am calling Archangel Michael to take my physical and mental problems away from me for a couple of days so I can be healthy in mind and body for my dental visit tomorrow. If there are any physics out there, please tell me, I am up in the air about whether or not this will be a root canal or a filling. I want to try affirmations but I am worried. I saw on CNN today, that many believed this was a verse, and I swear I even read it somewhere, but It turns out not to be there. I always thought of the verse as a kind of motivator to try and god will help you finsh. It's just weird to find it's not there.

This is rather on a tangent but I just want to say it to see how the Christian audience reacts. If the Christian god exists than we must be one of his most failed experiments. I mean, we kill each other, lie, pollute his/her planet, and then have the hypocrisy to pray to him like we deserve his favor. "God Bless America"? what is that?

Religion was once described to me as a giant glass table top. One religion, one belief that everyone followed. That belief centered around God. Some of the faithful became discontented to follow one belief. They fought and argued that their way of thinking was the right way. Eventually, they decided that they should each take their individual beliefs and start their own religion with their own beliefs. Thus each broke off their own piece of the table. Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Buddism and all the others took their piece and went off and developed them. But they all worshiped the same God. No matter what you called him (God, Allah, Buddha, etc...) he was still the same diety.

The following statement was made in response to another question I asked about the canonization of the Bible. "It was God, and God alone, who determined which books belonged in the Bible." I would like to know what evidence other than faith exist showing God's involvement in the canonization process?
