What do you mean by "main"?

If you mean by numbers, there is no main religion. Christianity has the most followers, but they amount to only 1/3 of the world population. Islam is runner-up at 1/5 of the world population. No matter which religion you belong to, *most* of the world thinks you're wrong.

If you mean by influence, i would have to say Christianity, because the world nations with the most clout and the people and institutions with the most money are historically Christian. But in this sense, it's still not the religion itself that wields the influence, but its wealthy or well-armed followers.

There are a couple of exceptions: Christian ethics are directly undermining population control and HIV education. The Pope and right-wing American Christians must share tremendous responsibility for the suffering from overpopulation and AIDS--although Muslim institutions share in that as well.

Was this supposed to be a question or a statement? I have heard that Islam has more followers in the world and that second is Christianity. But just because Islam has more followers what exactly does that prove? Nothing, if its even true that is.

We know Jesus came BEFORE Mohammad. So how can Jesus be Muslim?...

Islam is 'submission to the will of God' and a Muslim is a follower of Islam. That makes Mohammad, Jesus, Moses....and those that believe in them all followers of the religion of God. Sounds like these religions are pretty alike in essence...

So then is Islam the main religion in the world? (If that was your question, then...yes. Everyone who believes in God...follows Islam)

The views and actions of the "main" religions are becoming so ridiculous and abhorrent to most of us that it is only a matter of time before atheism is the "main" religion.

That depends on how you define "main".

How can you measure whether a religion is true or not? It is impossible, as religion is a question of belief.

There are many less mainstream religions which I would consider just as valid or relevant, for example Paganism.

Muslim is about 19.6% (growing) and Christians 33% (dropping). If your question refer to the most follower, then the answer is Christians but if it refer to the truth religion, the answer is ISLAM ! It's because nobody can prove that any part of Al-Quran (Sacred Texts) is false/fake (not from The Creator)
