Recently I was struck badly by an auto. In the teaching of the early fathers ofthe Orthodox Church, they insist that there is no such thing as a pure "accident" or injury, that all injuries, illnesses, are foreseen & permitted by God with His consent. I was injured so badly by the car, so gravely, even to the point of a heart attack caused by the loss of blood & the stressful shock to my heart. I now have 1/3 living cardiac muscle & 2/3 dead scar tissue. My life now will be a daily torment of heart failure & severe edema in my tissues. I can barely walk from the pain.in my limbs.
I ask Christians of any church to answer me: Am I not right to feel and believe that Jesus permitted this car to strike me as a punishment, as His way of showing His displeasure with my conduct??? Why did my guardian angel abandon me??? I crossed legally and was struck without mercy by a 19 yr old driver with a revoked license. Perhaps if I had been more devout-then Jesus might have spared me.? Reply,

I am curious about Atheists and what they believe exactly. I ask questions about them so I can better understand what they believe. I love to learn about different groups and cultures, to expand my understanding of everyone around me.
My question is: Atheists if you were going to put your faith in a higher power, a "GOD" per say, What do you believe would be the closest thing to being proof of GOD?
Just to let you understand what I believe. I am a christian (argued to not be one by other christians) Who doesn't believe in living my life based off the bible. I believe that the SUN is GOD. (most think I'm crazy for that) I've researched and seen a lot of evidence that leads me to believe that. I use my common sense and my concious to make my decisions. I know right from wrong and don't sin anymore than the most dedicated Catholic out there.
Like I said, i am just curious what Atheists believe and feel, I already understand the Christan view. I'm not here to judge, just to learn.

If we were not created to serve a specific purpose and are just the result of an accident waiting to happen, wouldn't that make us a self aware virus?

Your thoughts please.

If the options were, you die and your dead, or go to heaven. Would you still be a Christian? Thanks.

Why do we, as Christians, feel the need to insist that the lost have these things? We are told by the Word of God that we are set apart, that we live in the world but we are not of the world. Why should we expect the world to live by faith when we are plainly told by God that they don't?

I've been a practicing Zen Buddhist for many years, and recently converted to the Mormon Church. I hold the Mormon Church to be the true church of Christ. I also hold Zen to be the true practice of Buddhism. So my person practice is both, as neither threatens the other.

If anyone else has this spiritual practice, how do you seek affinity between the two paths?

Out of curiousity, why does just about every atheist comment I have seen on R&S assume that every Christian is uneducated simply because they believe something you do not? I mean really. I find it just as uneducated to believe that everything came from a rock. Why is it unreasonable to understand that an educated Christian believes in God and Creation?

Alcohol was banned long time ago and it created a black market, same argument is being made to keep porn legal, and many want certain drugs to be made legal to avoid the black market. And in some European countries they have made prostitution legal!

So to avoid any black market, should we make EVERYTHING legal? Seems like we are heading towards that. And since there is a market for just about everything (from good to filthy) where do we draw a line?
Those who follow a religion may use their religion as a reference, but how does a Government or an Atheist person decide that?

This is not putting any beliefs down.

Evidently a "true atheist" knows every scientific answer to every question. That is what this answerer said:

"A true atheist would know everything about the universe to make their statement. And since you dont know everything about the universe you shouldnt even be making a statement. Peace out................ "

Not to insult your intelligence, but I had no idea that to not believe in God you had to be a genius scientist as well. No wonder I am a deist, I am not intelligent enough to be an atheist.

ROTFLMFAO!

and thousands of ancient religions (polytheistic, etc.) that have had slews of devout believers and have since faded. Considering that....How can a reasonable, logical person quote passages from a man-made book and proclaim it to others as the word of god? As if they saw god ("him" or "her" or "they") write it! And on top of that, argue that their book is right, while all the others (with millions of respective "believers") are wrong? It all seems silly to me. I just can't wrap my head around it.
