I think I am.

God is absolutely good - even when I don't understand Him. Sometimes I define good in my own way and mistakenly believe that unless God answers prayers the way I want them answered - then I am being wronged. God know everything, including the future.
I still hold to the belief that God is good even when my 16 year old girl died in what should have been a routine surgery. As Job said, Shall we accept the good from God and not trouble? I believe God is infinitely nicer than any human.

I don't think any god is a good god. The God of the Old Testament, like many others is a jealous god, a punishing god who sold his chosen people into slavery several times. The God of Islam seems sadistic. The Christian god ordered Abraham to kill his son to test his obedience, before letting him off the hook. And so on. They seem father-figures, born of a culture of male dominance and damaged childhood. Seems to me that gods get in the way of appreciating the realities of the world and universe. So the concept can divide us from truly engaging with the world and other animals, divide us as humans, and so on - and prevent us from feeling the true wonder of creation and evolution, the fragility of life and all it depends on. It perpetuates ignorance, displacing insight with dogma making us susceptible to other delusions and dominant "recieved wisdom". It's significant that most religions promote a sense of inadequacy or "sin", and offer scapegoats, and that the OT god punished Adam and Eve for eating the fruit of knowledge.

In reality no supernatural power could survive unless it was and always has been "good". Disharmony limits everyone; scientifically, technologically, and socially. God is good because that was a prerequisite for him to be God.

Satan, the king of disharmony is no more than a bio-transfer robot who never really invents anything, he simply takes something that is good and twists it into a form of disharmony. He does not have supernatural powers, but being from Heaven (a technologically advanced planet) he simply seems to be powerful. Actually, Satan's only power is his gift of gab by mental telepathy to tempt us into living for the moment and not planning ahead.

If you actually go back and read the real version of what that says, you'll realize in the footnotes that that is not a quote from God, but a quote from man. The NIV (rather than YOUR version) is true and much different.

Hmmm... God. A noun, not a name. If I capitolize dog does that make it somehow more sanctimonious and sacred than other dogs? Perhaps mankind has gone through so many incarnations of god trying to explain the nearly infinite complexity of this universe into an utterable statement that makes them feel better, we have all collectively transcended the need to even bother with a proper name for the Source-Being.
Here is an idea. Humanity awakens to the reality of its own perception of self-identity and sensory awareness without any understanding of how to quantify the experience. This is sort of scary, the unknown and all. It makes sense that as our understanding grew and we needed to find answers to questions we didn't readily have a rational explanation for, that we would in fact fabricate mythology to at least be able to communicate specific concepts and ideologies to our fellow man.
In my opinion, religion is a psychological crutch for those people who NEED to have a feel good fairy-tale that places them(humanity) as the most important thing in the universe. According to almost all religious mythology mankind is the focal point of reality, and even the reason infinite time and space was created in the first place. This simultaneously strokes the collective ego and places the believer's point of view and world outlook as "correct", thereby demonizing all other faiths.
Some people are so dependant on religious ideas and propoganda, that they are incapable of engaging their rationale and intellect to actually examine the ideas surrounding the concept of religion itself. Instead, they look at religion from inside the construct of dogma they already adhere to.
As science continues to reveal the true nature of this universe to us and understanding expands we are forced to re-invent religion. After we realized that the phenomenon of natural disaster could be directly linked to comprehensable weather patterns, the idea of worshiping the sky-god seemed somewhat silly. In the same light we are nearing a point in history where Christianity, and most other forms of current religion will be replaced with new mythology more in line with humanity's present understanding of reality.

In summary, and to more directly answer the initial question...
The potential for good and evil exist within all of us, and regardless of our spiritual orientation we will struggle with that fact for the duration of our lives. If it helps you to believe your generic(just noting he is nameless, kind of like the black and white can at the grocery store that says "corn") diety is somehow intrinsically good, then so be it. If you lack the spiritual fortitude to stand in the light of truth and need to lean on your imaginary super-friend, that's fine with me. It makes you stronger, healthier, and overall a better person than you otherwise might have been. I like that. Just don't assume that the rest of us suffer the same affliction and try to inflict your beliefs on the world. Some of us don't need crutches. :)

Yes and also "To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? Saith the Lord, I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and fat of fed beasts, and I delight not in the blood of bulls or cows or lambs or of goats. When ye spread forth your hands, I will hide Mine eyes from you, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear , for your hands are full of blood." Isaiah1:11,15
"He that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man."
Isaiah 66.3- proves animals have souls and killing animals is a sin. "Go and sin no more."

I think that god is a fiction. If you have some evidence that there is such a thing, I should like to see it; people have been looking for such for thousands of years, and no one has yet found any.
