If the options were, you die and your dead, or go to heaven. Would you still be a Christian? Thanks.

Absolutely! My faith has little to do with a fear of going to hell and more about the desire to be in relationship with Jesus and spend eternity with Him.

Honestly, I still would. My idea of heaven is a bit different than a few people's idea. It's a very nice place to be, so no qualms about that. But even if there wasn't a heaven or a hell, I guess the same question is who would I be? Am I in it for the reward/punishment, or is there a real side to me? To be honest, I would certainly say that there is a real side to me, and that's a fact. Sure, I mess up and all, but I would think "yes" for sure. I mean, even many aethists who don't believe in God or heaven or hell are still really good people just because that's who the individuals are. I don't doubt I'd be different that way, either. But my beliefs would still be my beliefs regardless of a reward or punishment for them.

The fact of the matter is there is no fiery place of eternal torment!

HELL: definition: The word “hell” is found in many Bible translations. In the same verses other translations read “the grave,” “the world of the dead,” and so forth. Other Bibles simply transliterate the original-language words that are sometimes rendered “hell”; that is, they express them with the letters of our alphabet but leave the words untranslated. What are those words? The Hebrew she’ohl′ and its Greek equivalent hai′des, which refer, not to an individual burial place, but to the common grave of dead mankind;

Ecclesiastes 3:19-20: "For there is an eventuality as respects the sons of mankind and an eventuality as respects the beast, and they have the same eventuality. As the one dies, so the other dies; and they all have but one spirit, so that there is no superiority of the man over the beast, for everything is vanity. 20 All are going to one place. They have all come to be from the dust, and they are all returning to the dust."

Ecclesiastes 9:5: "For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten."

However, there is more to the story, but that is for another time...Why would there not being a hell make me not want to be a Christian anyway???...there is no place of fiery eternal torment, and I still want to be a Christian and I always will.

Absolutely. I think one way to look at being a follower of Jesus Christ is that He gives us a handbook which explains how we have to live to be closer to God (thus happier whether that happiness is during this lifetime or in heaven). Another reason why I would never want to live my life as anything but a Christian is because when you are a Christian you have a neverending relationship with the creator of EVERYTHING. As a Non-Christian you do not have this relationship with Jesus Christ, but if you are a Christian you have a never-ending, never-failing, always there "friend" for life. I know the term friend for life is relatively cheesy but if someone where to ask you if you wanted to be introduced to someone who would be your friend for life, always be there, always make you a better person etc. you would say yes. So why is it any different when you find out that this relationship is with Jesus Christ... people get turned off because they don't know what they are missing. There is only one thing that defines me and that is my relationship with Jesus Christ which makes me a Christian.

Being a Christian isn't about having "fire insurance," as some people think it is. It's about a lifetime of peace and joy, confident in the love of our Heavenly Father. It's about walking with our Savior Jesus through this life, knowing that He is the Best Friend we'll ever have.

To someone who's accepted Christ as their Savior, Heaven is a goal that we will reach after we've fulfilled God's purpose for us. But living our lives to the fullest first is as important to us as our eternal destination.

So yes, I would still want to be a Christian, no matter what.

Why not? You are probably ignorant of the fact that there are many Christians who do not believe in hell. Some believe that either hell is temporary and all will be saved, or that upon death the soul is annihilated. As for me, if there was no hell, I would still believe because Jesus is the Truth. But fact is, there is a hell, a place of eternal torment. You wouldn't want to taste the flames.

I have never been afraid of hell. I came to Jesus because I was Lost without God in my life and for that reason alone.Although I probably should have been afraid of hell I wasn't and now I don't have to be since I am going to Heaven. I serve Him because I love Him.
Chi Guy you need to have a look at Rev. 20:11-15,hell is the grave something the JW's point out but they haven't read to the end of the book. Here you will find that hell is brought up and cast into the "lake of fire"

Being a Christ follower is about more than being saved, it's also about how you live this life. It's about a hope beyond what you can imagine, knowing that you're not in this alone. It's about living your life in a way that helps others. Even if there is no heaven or hell, I wouldn't change my beliefs or how I live my life. Why would I? I try to live a life that strives to help those who need it, provide for people who don't have and take care of those who don't have anyone. Even if I'm wrong, why would I change it?

I am a Christian, and I personally believe that hell is the grave. Those who are saved through Jesus Christ are offered the opportunity of an eternal existence in Heaven, with God. Those who choose not to follow Jesus simply die. They cease to exist. There is no place of eternal punishment. My God is loving and compassionate and wouldn't condemn anyone to endless torture. This idea was made up by men, who wished to keep people in line by scaring them into following certain rules.

This being said, I'm still a Christian. For me, its not just about eternal reward. Its about recognizing the truth and following the one who loved me enough to give his life for me.

ABSOULUTELY! Hello, being a Christian is not a burden, it takes away all your burdens. Sit in a hole and rot, get eaten by little buggies and just, nothing. OR get to go see the Creator of the world. The One who said, let all this be, and it was. The One who stood in a storm and said, "Peace, be still." and the waves listened. YES, absolutely, sign me up for that. But, sorry for your luck bud, Hell is a real place and if you aint saved, you're headed straight there. That is the absolute truth.

Absolutely. For me being a christian is not to prevent going to hell, we may already be in hell, the reason for being a christian is to have ever lasting life with our father Jesus, and to be re-connected in a place where there is no sorrow only joy! Plus being a Christian is a good way of life, for it focuses on doing good, love and forgiveness, because so many lack these general things, the world is full of hate, violence and terror.
