I've been a practicing Zen Buddhist for many years, and recently converted to the Mormon Church. I hold the Mormon Church to be the true church of Christ. I also hold Zen to be the true practice of Buddhism. So my person practice is both, as neither threatens the other.

If anyone else has this spiritual practice, how do you seek affinity between the two paths?

Before I say answer your question, I would like to say that I am in no way criticizing or preaching. I know that the LDS church is the only true church on this earth. According to the Book of Mormon and D&C, any others would be "the great and abominable church." We know that some other churches or denominations have some of the truth, but not the fullness of the gospel that we have. I am not too familiar with the practices with Zen Buddhism, but I am sure that there are some customs and practices that are edifying and good. But the fact is, it does not have the fullness of the gospel, and is not the Lord's church. Talk to your bishop about the matter, I know that he would be more than happy to discuss some of your concerns with you. Also know that you can pray to your Heavenly Father, as He always hears you.

TheJoyfaction: The LDS church is in NO way racist. We are all equal in the eyes of God, and are all his children. If you are refering to Official Declaration #2 of the church, you can check out the details at http://www.lds.org . The Lord does some things for resons that are unknown to man. If the He had permitted priesthood holders at this time to every male, they would be persecuted and victimized, as the population of the church was not majority outside the US at this time. It is not a matter of superiority, worthiness is not based on the pigment of your skin color. Even if one had refused to take sides, they would not be on this earth now, would they? No. And I know this for a fact.

I was in the mormon church, enjoyed my mission and my faith. I also wanted to know the truth. They did not. That was when we parted ways. The last time I stood before a congregation it was on this same subject (needless to say it was NOT warmly accepted). I have been a practicing martial artist for even longer than I was a mormon. I followed the Zen ways and honestly felt they made the most sense as toward "universal good" (not just one religion's idea of good).
Anyway, here is what I "testified" to in a nutshell. I feel the truth IS out there; but NOT in any one place. I feel if you want the truth you must seek it in ALL sources. If I was a detective and found a dead body I would not know the truth if I took one well dressed established witnesse's word for what happened. I have to talk to that guy, hookers, bums, technology, and gut instinct. ONLY then would I know the truth. If that is what is required for a simple murder solution--what do you think it takes to solve the mystery of the cosmos?
In short I think you are closer to the truth than many of your narrowminded judeo/christian friends. But keep in mind that the truth my not always be as simple as you thought (religions refuse to be open to that idea). Maybe the only way God can be everywhere is because he is in everyone of us, and everything. Maybe right and wrong don't even exist. Maybe there is no "God" per se, only a universal force we shape and mold with subjective terms like right and wrong to justify our own acts... Who knows? All I know for sure is that the ONLY way to the truth is to be open to it; and THAT is why I personally feel all major religions are lost.

Why would you ever convert to a racists Church like Mormonism and be a Buddist at the same time. You are learning completely opposite teachings.

Yes the Church of Mormon is racist, they say black people have darker skin because they refused to take side in the war between god and Satan. This is obvious not equality and is obviously bullshit racism.

I too am a member of the LDS church. In my view, I see nothing wrong with practicing other things as long as it stays clean in the sight of the Lord. Remember to pray to the Lord about it.
