Why do religions persist in saying we are the only life in it. The universe is huge why would a god waste all his energy creating such a vast thing and only have one planet with any forms of life in it.
Even if he then created the univers with the millions of Galaxies in it and just put one planet with life on it in each galaxy these life forms would never meet.
But lets go with the books God created the univers and then put man on Earth and then decides there will be a judgment day when everybody will be judged and the good people go to heaven and the bad people goto hell. What is the point of the rest of the universe.
Within all the scientific and ecological discoveries that we have made all the major proffesors are saying it s not possible that we are the only planet in the universe with life on it. Why cant religions accept this..and if proof is found that life has existed or exists on other planets will the major religions throw the old books away and re-invent themselves ?

I do not recall, at least in the bible / Christian teaching that it specifically says that there are no life forms other than on this planet.
I don't think that IF we ever find some it will change religion, it will just mean that God created more things than we realised.
Man may well only exist on this planet, and as the bible is an account written by men, it is going to reflect what they know and are familiar with, and many bible stories are meant to be illustrations of ideas / ideology, not absolute fact.
At the time it was wriiten, life forms in other parts of the universe were not part of most peoples experience and so they were not specifically mentioned, but..."There are more things in heaven and earth..."

clever: Don't be so dazzled by Science. You present a loaded series of questions here. Not all professors do say that there is life on other planets, as you claim. What does the rest of the Universe have to do with us inhabitants of earth when we are screwing-up the planet ? God MAY have other things in mind with the rest of the Universe but Christians are concerned with the here, and now, as God has designated him or her to. About "throwing books away". When scientists discovered with the aid of Hubble telescope, they had to re-write the many dogmatic text books currently existing on the Universe and throw the old ones away ! It is impossible for Christianity to re-invent it self since Christ has ordained it.

Just because the universe is huge does not therefore means that life is teeming all over the universe in galaxies far and wide. The vastness of the universe attests to the power of the Creator. That life only exists on earth attests to the special and unique position that God has placed on us. Many people have entertained the idea that life must be out there, and this is always based on the ASSUMPTION that evolution is true. But since evolution is a theory in crisis, we can safely lay the "green men" idea to rest. Moreover, to argue that life exists out there is an argument based on the absence of evidence, on faith in evolutionary ideas.

My father and I were discussing this a few weeks ago.
We both believe that God has created each planet as a test.
If we screw up big time, She takes us from one planet, erases our technology and places us on another, allowing us to start again.

As for what the books say, it's possible that the universe is split into two, heaven and hell. In one side is prosperous and good (heaven) the other is full of struggle and strife(hell)

The only bad thing about religion is it's hard to pin an exact answer. It's all in theory. With millions of different people, you're going to get just as many various answers.

Good luck though and I hope I was some help to you ^_^

The first verse of the Quran:

1. Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds;

It is mentioned as worlds, because Allah alone knows how many worlds are made by Him. Even if life exists in other planets and if they live to the Will of God, we would not benefit from them and if they do not live to the Will of God, we dont loose anything.

If in ur opinion, the vast Universe is not made by ONE God, then who made it?????????
Can u make a World of just ONE Planet with ONE Galaxy, the world will worship u and u would be the God.
For sure u wont tell me that, it was made by itself. If the universe is made by itself, then things that man made like pen, chair, car, computer, satellites and many other things should have been made by themselves.

For more clarification, read the book, The Bible, the Quran and Science by Dr. Mauricce Baccui (the French Scientist).

May Allah guide u to the reight path.

This is just a religion thing. The bible doesn't say that the Earth is the only inhabited planet, only that he created and placed man on the planet and set the rules by which to live. the idea that we are the only ones is a man made one probably started by the Popes in Rome.

The God I know provides insight on a need to know basis, the reasons for which are anybody's guess, I have my theories, one of which involves an assimilation of scientific discovery pertaining to the nature of all that is, and the less tangible etherial aspects of existence. In my world we're given the means to evolve, and once we've exhausted the potential of our resources, revelation, maybe in the way of inspiration, propells us even further in our pursuit of understanding, evolution doesn't seem to know much limitation, and it's definitely not limited to the physical world.

One thing to consider is that while the religious standard is reluctant to acknowledge the potential for other inhabited worlds, they do refer to entities that are not of this world, celestial as opposed to extraterrestrial, but certainly existent. For whatever reason, scientific minds are faulted for their inability to believe in the unseen or otherwise unknown, but some religious people somehow justify their refusal to believe in some things that as of yet are unseen or otherwise unknown, I don't suppose the irony is coincidental.

In terms of religion, if a covenant is entered, upheld, and prolonged, the covenant stands. Even religious history allows for the prospect of a new covenant, but it's hardly enough to overcome the validity of the old covenant. Point being, you won't find too many established religions throwing their books away, but as time progresses, so will humankind, in knowledge, in application, in body, mind, and spirit, in the wake of one generation comes another, and the evidence will speak for itself when it's available.

Religions of today were invented when that pesky mosquito called science wasn't buzzing around yet. Now that actual evidence is looking them in the face, they are going to have to either embrace the change and incorporate science into their philosophies, or create even more extravagant fictions, probably relying on threatening heavier punishment for believing in science. I really don't know, it is a good question. Keep in mind when the bible was written the earth was the center of the universe.

I am a christian. I believe that God created life on other planets and if I burn in heck for saying this - so be it. Why would it be so far-fetched that God created other garden of Edens? I can't believe that God created the universe for the sole purpose of giving us something to look at through our telescopes.

This is what God says about it ....**Psalm 115:15..." The highest heavens belong to the Lord , but the earth he has given to man "....** Isaiah 45:18 ... " He who fashioned and made the earth , he founded it ; he did not create it to be empty , but formed it to be inhabited ."
