As in Joseph and Mary Christ, or... more unlikely, God Christ?

I'm just wondering... because few people just call him Jesus, even though there is only one person in the history of time who has ever been named Jesus (that I know of). So why do people specify by adding the last name?

Did your granparents believe God (The Father)looks like a man ?Or at least do you happen to believe so despite other philosophical or theological views?
No matter what religion you are could you give me an answer?
I am also very interested of an answer from Jews, as our Christian religion is a continuity of their Torah..
But anyone is welcome if he can answer...
Thank you very much...

Shouldn't they have ended the book of Exodus with, 'he came down the mountain the second time and some other stuff happened and this is what the tablets said,'....." and then started the book of Leviticus?

I'm being serious and I don't want to offend anyone. I will be the first to admit I'm ignorant here; that's why I'm asking.

Why aren't the ten commandments in Leviticus? Or are they? Thank you for your time.

E.T is fiction, yet millions of people even paid to see the movie. I've seen online forums where people discussed the movie, the quality of acting, etc, etc.

Our laws have never been changed because of E.T.. Never! But people still loved to see the movie and even discuss it.

Same with books. Let's say the Bible. Nice work of fiction about some God. I highly enjoyed reading it. The only problem with that book is that for some reason it influences our laws. And frankly, that scares me like hell.

Yet, all people who don't believe in that fairytale everytime have to explain why they visit a religious section on Y!A. Why is that?

Why do Christians and other religions have to start teaching religion so young. As soon as they start communicating their parents are brainwashing them with religion. Why not wait until 13 or older so that the child is old enough to comprehend it and make a decision for themselves. Kids are extremely gullible and parents should know this. Does this mean that parents really know that religion is made up and are trying to take advantage of their child's developing reasoning skills to promote their cause?

I hear people say things like " The Truth of Jesus Christ " and stuff like that all the time. But is it the Truth? Do they know it because they feel it? Do they feel it because they know it?

I tend to use the word Truth differantly.

I can have Faith that my car will get me to work today.
I can Believe that my car will get me to work today.
I will not KNOW that my car will get me to work today until it actually gets me to work.

And thats the Truth.

there are alot of hatred and misconceptions about Islam out there today, and alot of it i can tell you is done by people who are either ignorant or just slaves to their own ego and desires, i (insha Allah) am a muslim and i believe that islam sets people free by the one true core belif, the belief that Allah (God) is one, by implementing the rule of Allah, one becomes free from the shackles of another being, one becimes free from the shackles of man

I just got this message from a christian here on Y!A:

From: J.T.
Subject: Re: True Ignorance!

Message: With less than five sentences, you've proven your true ignorance. You have a mind of filth, the maturity of an infant, and lack the intelligence to produce a thought with tact.

In short...you're not worth the time...and have proven to be an absolute joke. Your ID has been blocked from emailing me. Ridiculous.
============================================

I really do find it amazing. He shrieks and name-calls in his mail to me, then calls me immature and infantile.

He says I lack intelligence, but then blocks me from replying for fear of an intelligent reply he cannot handle.

He tells me that in less than 5 sentences, I have proven all that to him.

Truth is, in less than 5 real sentences, he's proven one thing to me: he certainly is, without a doubt, a christian. His messages are like all the others that christians send.

IS THIS WHAT JESUS TEACHES YOU??

Last friday i had a person who believed in the christan faith tell me i was going to hell becuase i was eating meat. When i told them that it means nothing to me, they seamed very angry from hearing that.
I am just trying to understand why some one would say that. Do christians think that when they push their beliefs on other people that it will change their mind?? I just dont know what this person was thinking when they said this. I mean, why do christians push their beliefs on others so much??
if your a christian and you have ever said something like this to some one else, what was your reasoning? What made you say somthing like that? it just makes no sence to me? extra coments are welcomee. <3

The very words of a truth change every generation. The Gay 90s weren't gay, though they all sucked on fags.

Words honestly placed, change in societal meaning as shown above go from innocent to salacious when translated from another language in a past generation then read in this generation. All of mankind's writings suffer from this phenomenon.

Why is he so concerned with deceiving people, gathering souls, or whatever it is he's supposed to do? Why doesn't he just put his feet up and enjoy life (or rather, death)? Note that I'm not asking what he supposedly does, but why he does it.

As the evidence for evolution via natural selection becomes as obvious as the existence of the sun, more and more Christian sects are backing away from the denouncements of evolution they made many years ago.

Which sects are still holding out, claiming that evolution is a satanic lie?
