Why do Christians and other religions have to start teaching religion so young. As soon as they start communicating their parents are brainwashing them with religion. Why not wait until 13 or older so that the child is old enough to comprehend it and make a decision for themselves. Kids are extremely gullible and parents should know this. Does this mean that parents really know that religion is made up and are trying to take advantage of their child's developing reasoning skills to promote their cause?

In some religions the child is unsure.... How that can be I don't know but, By teaching their child About their Religion they are also helping. Like if the child losses some one close to them or a pet. what would your answer be? Would you rather the child understand where that person hoped to go or let them figure it on their own? it's issues like this that Religion helps parents and children alike. Also not all Kids grow up to believe what their parents have taught them. My Parents are Christians I'm Pagan. What we need to be teaching Kids is it's OK to be different. To understand not everyone agrees with you.

Its best to teach religion to children when they are younger because they are pure and have not yet sinned. Many children attend church but at the younger ages its more a social place then a religious place. babies don't anything about religion they are enjoying the different people they see and the change of atmosphere. I also think if you show a children religion when they are younger they will have a stronger since of self as well as religion when they are older and will make more rational decisions in life. I don't think anyone should live there lives through the bible or religion but just let it be more of a guide and things will be better.

As a parent you try to do what you think is best for your child and the bible instructs parents to "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6

Equipping a child with the thought that it's not all about them is a good thing. I've been on both sides of the fence and the faith side is much better in alot of ways. Peace :-)

Christian's believe (even if you agree or not it's their faith) that the only way to heaven is through a relationship with Jesus Christ as your Savior. so by neglecting to tell their children and their children not being saved the outcome would be lost for eternity.
look at it this way; do you think it's right to teach you child not to do drugs at a young age before they get into the world hooked on them destroy their life and then die of a overdose?
Why not bother talking to them about drugs till their 13 or so, it might be to late then.
so it's their faith and love that makes them teach what they think is a healthy lifestyle, anyway a TRUE Christan life style promote brotherly love equality to all and good morals it can't really hurt but only help.

If you are going to lock your kid in a closet for 13 years with no influence from the outside world and then teach him your religion, then sure, wait. But kids have beliefs pushed onto them from everywhere...TV, school, radio, music, friends. I believe that according to the Bible you must "Train a Child in the way he should go, so that when he is old he will not depart from it." Everyone has free will. Sooner or later, even a child that has been taught at a young age, has to decide for themselves what they are going to believe.

I try am trying to teach my kids about God and his son. I understand what you are saying but you must understand that when some one has found some thing that they feel is the truth. They don't wait to share it. That would sound like they are unsure of it. I try to live my live according to Gods laws. So I have to teach them Gods laws. I want them to have morals and know good from bad. Now when they are older it will be up to them if they continue. As a parent it is my Job to teach them... I love what the first guy said with his answer. He was in my eyes 100% correct...

It is also important to note that children under the age of 13 are more susceptible to seeing ghosts or demons running around their households. Not the parents. The parents job is to teach, and if you felt brainwashed by those ghosts and demons growing up then maybe your parents didn't do such a good job of teaching you truths about how to overcome them now.

I agree, too many rules by parents mean more obstacles to get to your teen zen, but beware where you land after you jump that fence....the grass may not be greener there.

You make a very good point. Would you also say that we should wait to teach our children about math and science? Their young minds may find it too complicated. Some say education is wasted on youth anyway. Let them become adults and they can make decisions on their own about what to begin to study and what scientific theories they may want to learn more about. Since children can't always make good decisions for themselves, we should just let them wait until they are adults to learn about only the things they choose. That's a good idea.

I think because the bible teaches good morals and values i.e. love thy neighbor 'n everything they feel it's necessary to incorporate religion into the child's life but it doesn't mean they're doing the right thing either because nowadays religion has gotten out of hand and the true meaning behind the teachings of the likes of Jesus, Muhammad, or Buddha have been lost.

that's not abusive to insist that youthful toddlers accompany their father and mom to worship. toddlers could do a superb style of issues they don't opt to do: visit college, brush their teeth, consume their vegetables... going to worship amenities is in basic terms one extra element of coaching to coach them for adulthood. that's a place the place they are in a position to earnings values, morals, and a feeling of history. besides, many places of worship artwork not common to be certain that young toddlers have fun with their time there. I certainly have a superb style of sturdy concepts of Sunday college class: the songs we sang, the Bible thoughts, the crafts. It became a lots extra desirable environment than common college. additionally, requiring toddlers to circulate to church or synagogue and learn isn't the comparable element as forcing them to have self assurance, which extremely isn't even a threat. i think of that's lots extra neglectful (i would not inevitably say abusive) if a determine refuses to grant a newborn any religious preparation in any understand. the newborn misses out on lots.
