E.T is fiction, yet millions of people even paid to see the movie. I've seen online forums where people discussed the movie, the quality of acting, etc, etc.
Our laws have never been changed because of E.T.. Never! But people still loved to see the movie and even discuss it.
Same with books. Let's say the Bible. Nice work of fiction about some God. I highly enjoyed reading it. The only problem with that book is that for some reason it influences our laws. And frankly, that scares me like hell.
Yet, all people who don't believe in that fairytale everytime have to explain why they visit a religious section on Y!A. Why is that?

Views on E.T. and religion aside, I fail to see why you should have to explain anything to anyone. I'm sure I never do. I hate explaining things.

Some people have taken an example from star wars and become members of the Jedi relighion....seriously. People just choose to believe or not believe what they choose to believe. Parts of the bible may not be fact (noahs ark for example), but I believe that most is fact. I can't prove it's fact, no more than you can prove for absolute certain it's fiction.
And why do people watch films like E.T.? Because they're good, hihg quality films. Thats why.

I saw a silver saucer shaped craft one day 35 years ago hovering above a building a few hundred feet up.it was a ship.probably a space craft .an alien craft.It was not of this earth.I don't think so anyway.
I know that a God and spirit of God exists and you would to if you accepted the spirit into you.
of course you know nothing about it.you have never asked of it with love and faith.so it is not with you.if you don't get in a car, you want be able to drive it.if you don't accept the spirit into you then it will not be with you and you will not understand.
I have also seen supernatural life saving miracles, have you?
No .so you don't know what i know
you don't have what it takes to have the Spirit of God guiding your life, its called Faith
But your like most people, your not alone
and your right. the old testament is full of old Jewish mythology
I go with what Jesus said about have faith and love and accepting the spirit of god into me for direction and it will lead me to heaven when i pass on.That's what s important not some story's in a book

People proclaim faith in the bible and often conflate faith with fact. That's what's happened.
