I just got this message from a christian here on Y!A:

From: J.T.
Subject: Re: True Ignorance!

Message: With less than five sentences, you've proven your true ignorance. You have a mind of filth, the maturity of an infant, and lack the intelligence to produce a thought with tact.

In short...you're not worth the time...and have proven to be an absolute joke. Your ID has been blocked from emailing me. Ridiculous.
============================================

I really do find it amazing. He shrieks and name-calls in his mail to me, then calls me immature and infantile.

He says I lack intelligence, but then blocks me from replying for fear of an intelligent reply he cannot handle.

He tells me that in less than 5 sentences, I have proven all that to him.

Truth is, in less than 5 real sentences, he's proven one thing to me: he certainly is, without a doubt, a christian. His messages are like all the others that christians send.

IS THIS WHAT JESUS TEACHES YOU??

liv2 -- thanks, but, no, i stand by what i say. and i point out hypocrisy when i see it.

feelings hurt? nope. but, nice try at being passive/aggressive, while you too, defend the behavior of those who call themselves christians, like the churches who spend millions defneding child-aping ministers and priests.

i will ALWAYS point out dishonesty and hypocricy, especially when the people doing it are the ones who continually tell everyone else that they have better values, and they hold themselves to higher standards. would that some of you would actually live your values every day. is that asking too much?

Some of them aren't a very good advertisement for their faith. I find that being Christian seems to often have little correlation with what sort of person someone is. People are what they are regardless. If they are small minded, intolerant, bigots then their religion only amplifies that in regard to their beliefs.

Yes, all the arrogance and ignorance gives me the warm fuzzies and reminds me of all the times that Jesus said it's okay to pick on someone because they don't believe as you think they should... no wait, that's not Jesus' teaching is it?

Unfortunately there's only so much you can do to get through to arrogance like that... it's their (arrogant people, not all Christians, some Christians are actually kind believe it or not) defense mechanism, shut down, blame it on the devil/satan, thumbs down, report report report...

Elizabeth thank you... I've been saying that for eons... and I agree.

They are very petulant and have a fondness for long winded rhetoric. The conservative Christians on here not a good advertisement for their faith.

True Christians do not judge others or insult them. Jesus taught us to love one another. Jesus taught us compassion and forgiveness. Jesus taught us to help others, especially the poor and the needy.

I am sorry you think that all Christians are like this person. Please do not allow this bad experience to colour your judgment. God is love and we are created in God's image, therefore true Christians try to follow Jesus' example and love one another, whether or not they share our beliefs. Peace be with you.

sounds like someone's feelings were hurt.

im not entirely sure of jesus's teachings regarding flame wars on yahoo answers.

perhaps turn the other cheek, educate the 'flamer' in an intellignet manner.

just becuase J.T. is christian doesnt mean he's perfect, nor doesn it mean that he follows all of jesus's teachings. it means he tries to , but that doent mean he always does.

the christian answer is no. he is just one of them so dont judge all Christians because he is just one imperfect person like the rest of us. i dont know what you said to make him angry but he has a right to be defensive just like you have also done. ps...i am not a christian either.
