If there is no God (and I am afraid there probably not), then could humanity not ascend to the open position?

Humans are the highest intelligence on earth and have left earth and erected space stations for living outside of earth. Many kooks look for a superior alien intelligence propelled by the same anxiety that makes religious people invent religions.

Maybe we are it, the cream of the crop, and if so, why be shy about it! If one day, the majority of humanity didnt make such vodoo of the idea that "man is the highest" then we could more boldly endeavor to fit the bill, and become the next best thing, or who knows...

Can man create heaven on earth? Perpetuate his species eternally? Widen life-spans to the degree that death is always a choice and never a fate?

Only religious-lunes say no....Im open to the possiblities...

After all every religion/ ancient culture says the same thing about "him" and his angels.

1. They're not from Earth but from some place (anywhere out there) called heaven coming DOWN here.

2. He has a different time zone- "A day unto god is 1000 yrs to man" (this is only possible with a planet rotating around a sun/ star)

3. He traveled in a cloud in the book of Exodus that had the shape of a pillar-never changed and used to light up like fire in the night. (this is not an ordinary cloud)

4. His "Crystal city" or New Jerusalem (REV-21) will be coming DOWN from heaven. (imagine what that will look like)

5. The word 4 heaven in Greek is "Ouranos" which is equivalent to Orion.

6. God must have DNA compatible to ours because his sons had wives from us human beings and had children who became men. GEN 6:1-4.

You can answer "yes" or "no" or "this is a stupid question" if you'd like, but I'd appreciate any extra effort you put into your response.

Since this seems to be the Forum for Christian bashing....especially today, Then why do you come to the Y?A in the first place...does placing blame on Christians for anything from stubbed toes to nuclear devastation really create justifications to your beliefs ( or lack thereof)?

We seem to die because Adam and Eve ruined it for us with their actions. How extremely overpopulated would this planet be today if we all lived eternally on earth, like God obviously planned according to the Bible?

Whenever a new species appears in the fossil record, it is almost invariably just like something that already existed, but slightly modified. In fact, it's almost as if one evolved into the other. Why would God do that, do you think? Why not invent completely new things, instead of constantly fiddling with existing things?

I am 15 and I have a friend who is a very strict Christian (doesn't even wear shorts in the summer in the 100 degrees) who also believes very strongly in creationism. I don't have a very strong feeling towards evolution OR creationism, but as much as I want to believe creationism is completely true, I tend to lean towards evolution because there is just so much scientific proof.
Well my question is should I tell her my opinion, even though she is very against evolution. As a christian who belives in creationism would you think less of a friend who didn't?
Thank you very much. =)

u say christianity and your only way to back it up is to say, "in god we trust" and "one nation under god"

research free-masonry, and you'll find that many founding fathers were free-masons. they also believe in a higher power. you'll see that George Washington and Benjamin Franklin were both Freemason.

why do you think everytime the word God is written it applies to christians only? u know the saying about assumptions dont u?

The Gnostics were not about control through fear. They did not instill fear to keep the sheep in church and gather their money.

I remember when I was semi-religious. All that time, doubt lingered. Looking at it now, I realize that I leaned upon the expression "ignorance is bliss". The fear was that exploring non-religious explainations could only bring me anxiety. I dont remember consciously having this debate, but this is how I subconsiously rationalized the subject.

I lived in a mega-church community for many years and witnessed a lot of hatred for atheists/agnostics. Why is it that religious people have such hatred for agnostics and atheists? After all, arent they merely another subset of humans who need to be reaced?

In Islamic countries, its not even a debate at all. Atheists are not to be reached or talked to...they are to be beheaded. Period.

Unlike Islamic doctrines, Christians are neverthless supposed to still reach out atheists, but do the opposite. Why is that? Could it be that, despite the teachings of Jesus to the contrary, Christians subconsciously recognize the falsehood of religion...

Gnostics believe that they have secret knowledge about God, humanity and the rest of the universe of which the general population was unaware. It became one of the three main belief systems within 1st century Christianity, and was noted for four factors by which differed from the two other branches of Christianity: Novel beliefs about Gods, the Bible and the world which differed from those of other Christian groups.
Tolerance of different religious beliefs within and outside of Gnosticism.
Lack of discrimination against women. Although Jesus treated women as equals, and Paul mostly did the same, the other Christian belief systems started to oppress women in later generations.
A belief that salvation is achieved through relational and experiential knowledge.

Alot of people believe that the ten commandments were part of the old covenant fulfilled (taken away) BUT.
Maybe what the real meaning is that, the actual covenant was taken away, The written covenant between God and His people.
Maybe the object of the 10 commandments (tablets of stone)were never taken way.
I.e. If I sold me car to you i would write a contract. The car of course is the tablets of stone and the contract is the covenant. It could be said that the sale never goes through so the contract is destroyed. The car still remains.
So maybe infact the 10 commandments are still around today??

Gnosticism is a philosophical and religious movement which started in pre-Christian times. The name is derived from the Greek word "gnosis" which literally means "knowledge." However, the English words "Insight" and "enlightenment" capture more of the meaning of "gnosis." It is pronounced with a silent "G" (NO-sis). Gnosticism is not factual, intellectual, rational knowledge, such as is involved in mathematics and physics; that would have been more accurately represented by the Greek world "episteme." Rather, Gnosticism involves the relational or experiential knowledge of God and of the divine or spiritual nature within us.
