There has been a rash of questions that have the general feeling that so many Christians are threatened by the presence of Atheists on R&S. Why? Why are you more threatened by the atheists than the pagans, or the muslims? If you know God loves you, then why the fear?

This is a sincere question, not meant to illicit contention or sarcasm, but I noticed a lot of the questions in the religion section are answered by atheists (and asked I guess), and I thought this was a little ironic since I understand Atheism as choosing not to have religion. Are the questions found on the "All" questions page or do you search for the keyword Atheist? What brings you (the atheist) here if you don't want anything to do with religion?

There are many Christians out there who say that members of the "Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints" aren't Christians.

Provide a link to an external, unbiased source (such as Websters dictionary) that defines "Christian" in a way that excludes Mormons, yet includes Baptists, Catholics, Evangelicals, Protistants, etc.

I realize that many biased groups choose to define Christianity in a way that is narrow enough to exclude Mormons, yet wide enough to include these groups (which in and of itself is a challenge).

Besides...Isn't "The Church of Jesus Christ" a strange name for a non-christian church???

In school when the other children are in assembly or practicing new hymns or religious plays the Jehova Witness children are supervised in a corner to just draw and colour. Since they must be quiet for the others to practice

I would like to do something more constructive with them at these times. Any suggestions?

I dont know if I am a atheist or what. I beileve there is no need for god or a creator...since time is really an illusion....like I dont there could really be a true beginning or it would just keep going in circles...by saying what came b4 that and b4 that. I am very spiritual and find it hard to beleive that the universe oneday...somehow..for no reason appeared from 'nothingness' I dont beleive in "god" really or atleast a personal god ..so would I be considerd an 'atheist' or what????

like creationists, evolutionists, you cant just all accept one side of the debate, when nobody knows or can prove the real answer.

Do you think that god favors your beliefs, and that makes you better than others? I have noticed that some either act cold towards those who dont share their faith, or they try to convert them. My question is why? Isnt the thought of my religion is better than yours prideful, and unable to be proven? Didnt god give us our free will to be who we want? What if I am a better person being a pagan than I would be, being a christian, muslim, or jew? Can you, with out quoting scripter come up with evidence that you're right, and I'm wrong? I dont wish to change anyones beliefs, I just wish for you to open your mind up to the possibility that maybe some are happy the way they are, and are better people because of it. I have friends who are jew,muslim,christian,wiccan, and celtic, and wouldnt change a thing about them. Love people for who they are, and if they need help, then help them. If they ask to know your god then by all means do it, if not let them be!!

Im saying that the church started rumors of monsters like vampires and werewolfs etc. Meaning the use and belief of religion and holy water, sunlight of God and crosses etc. would be the only way to kill them. Which in turn Made people to understand that if you believed in a religion you would be safe... So thats how religion became just..

I'm not trying to restrict a person's right to say what they want. I just hope they wouldn't do it in front of me. I try to respect everybody's opinion and all but I am seriously sick of answers like this:
