There are many Christians out there who say that members of the "Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints" aren't Christians.

Provide a link to an external, unbiased source (such as Websters dictionary) that defines "Christian" in a way that excludes Mormons, yet includes Baptists, Catholics, Evangelicals, Protistants, etc.

I realize that many biased groups choose to define Christianity in a way that is narrow enough to exclude Mormons, yet wide enough to include these groups (which in and of itself is a challenge).

Besides...Isn't "The Church of Jesus Christ" a strange name for a non-christian church???

I might point out that no one has been able to provide a link. Dictionary.com 's definition is:

a person who believes in Jesus Christ; adherent of Christianity.

Merriam-Webster defines it as: one who professes belief in the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Both well respected dictionaries. Both with definitions that clearly include Mormons.

It's interesting that Mormons profess to believe in Jesus Christ while other Christians are saying "No you don't".

I find it severely ironic that Christians would persecute another individual for being Christian.

Apparently there is no link or objective definition (other than the definition created by their own religion). Someone above gives "beliefnet.com" as a link, but I guess they didn't notice that LDS/Mormons were a subcategory under Christianity, thereby only supporting the idea that Mormons are Christian.

You also can't use the Nicene Creed, because that is just another Church defining it; again, not objective.

There is no real reason to argue this, because religion is religion, which means it is based on faith and subjective matters, matters which are personal, undefinable and unproveable (except on an individual level). If someone chooses to believe the Mormons aren't Christian that is their perogative, but they should understand it is because it doesn't line up with THEIR definition (which likely derived from their religion). The Bible can be interpreted in numerous ways, including in a way that supports the Mormon faith. We should therefore respect each other regardless of belief and live on.

Just as I suspected, no one could do what you asked them to do. The definition of the word Christian:

A Christian is a follower of Jesus of Nazareth, referred to as the Christ. Christians believe Jesus to be the Son of God, who lived a life free of sin, who at the end of his earthly life was crucified, and then on the third day, rose from the dead, and later ascended into heaven, with the promise to return

Mormons believe this to be true, so they are Christians. They have some different beliefs then other Christian religons, but all religons have differences otherwise they would all go to the same church. They do believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God, and end most prayers, "..in the name of thy son Jesus Christ, Amen" so there you go.

And I really love when people say we don't know what we believe. That doesn't even make sense. I know what I believe and that's all that matters. There have been people in the past in the church that have stated things I dont agree with, and I dont need to take responsibility for what they have said or done. I guess I should assume that Catholics are for molesting little children, since many of their leaders enjoy doing so.

The church was originally called "The Church of Latter Day Saints". They added the name of Jesus Christ in an effort to sound more acceptable to Christians. Their bizarre theology does include the name of Jesus Christ, but that is about the only similarity to Christianity. The first thing that separates Mormons from all the Christian churches you named is the fact that they are a polytheistic religion. In addition, their beliefs about Jesus Christ are completely incompatible with the most basic tenets of Christianity. Therefore they are not Christian. Not even close.

I think more to the point, isn't it strange for a Church that supposedly follows Christ has given our Father in Heaven a wife, added to God's Holy word or claims that exalted Mormons will become Gods.
How blasphemous can you get!

I don't know which is worse the Mormons or the Muslims. (Ghee, here I go again, I keep forgetting people around this site don't like others to be honest with our opinions)

That's why many Christians don't believe Mormons are part of the flock.

This site is as unbiased as it gets:

Sorry for being offensive but I think lying to be politically correct is a worse sin.

the motivation is an identical motivation that stirred the scribes and Pharisees to crucify Jesus Christ. somewhat than work together Jesus Christ in Logical communicate and use their innate instinct, they somewhat argued vehemently against Jesus Christ, in a pseudo-psychological way that lacked any actual substance. you spot the authentic same mentality between people who say that Mormons at the instant are not Christians. Their good judgment is ridiculously incorrect. of direction them being incorrect, does no longer make Mormons authentic. it is why Mormons do no longer spend time disproving their faith incorrect. Their are hundreds of Christian Religions. yet all of them unite against the authentic Church of God. the motivation is one in each of survival. those church homes that oppose The LDS Church are disintegrating and try to save themselves from destruction. yet finally their faith is ineffective. the certainty would be triumphant.

when you go into the beliefs of this church you find that they go against the teachings of jesus christ and thus they are only christian by name i will offer one article i have read, but you just need to look at the church and you can see they do not truly follow the teachings of christ,i don't mean to offend you or any other member of your church but you need to face the facts.

whether or not the source is from a catholic site it still does not alter what you guys teach and believe and it is not purely of christ which is what christian is supposed to be.

you believe in a false jesus- of course anyone can say they believe the bible...but mormons do not live by the teachings of Jesus Christ---they have established their own truth through the book of mormon and have bought into a man made relegion...

Look at what mormons believe, not just on the surface but look at what they really believe--start with Revelations--they have added to that book, where God says not to, in the last chapter. What they believe happens after you die is NOT biblical. The jesus they believe in ( brother of satan??!?!) that is NOT biblical...therefore it is a false jesus- not the Jesus of the Holy Bible. And that is why they are not "christian" because the word christian means a follower of Christ--the one TRUE Jesus Christ.

There is a saying in chinese, hope I remember correctly,

"Rumor cease before the wise." it means that the wise one do not easily deceived by just what someone say or do.

As you can see, many are still blind in their heart, judging purely by what they think is correct, and not by the spirit.
Even though they knew what the definition of a Christian is, they still argue that LDS is not Christian.
While the LDS can accept the others as Christian, the "Others" cannot accept the LDS.

I agree with you presently. Matter of fact, although I have 'heard' allegations against it; presently I would consider it closer to the scriptural truth than many in the USA presently recognize.
I do have a miscellaneous question for you to answer via email to me soon; When asked is one 'Catholic or Protestant' what does a mormon typically answer?

Because of the following:

#1: the Book of Mormon was actually plagiarized from a galley proof of a novel that fell off a wagon in upstate New York in the 19th Century.

#2: the Mormons stole the Masonic Ritual, giving the secrets to non-Masons and Women.

#3: God talking to me saying that the level of tithing and control you give to your Church "Elders" is despotic and is not in the spirit of the law, but in the letter only.

#4: False genealogy that has the modern day Mormons being related to the lost tribes of Israel, when clearly all Mormons were converted beginning in the 19th Century and gathered from all ethnic groups - hence can not belong either now or in the past to the same "tribe".

QED.
