Why do you people come into this site and mock us and make fun of our beliefs? Why is it so important to you to make us stop having faith? What difference does it make to you what we believe? You live your life and let us live ours, PLEASE!

I do not buy that "I was forced to go to church when I didn't want to go story!" I was not going to stay home because my children didn't want to go! And I was not about to hire a baby sitter because the children didn't want to go. Last but not least I was not about to leave the kids at home because the children didn't want to go to church! That is the lamest excuse there is! Most kids don't want to go to school either. But they are forced to go!

The Apostle Paul said that in the last days there would be ridiculers so it's not surprising. All we can do is be loving and kind and try to help them see the truth from the scriptures. I always wondered to what kind of life are they trying to lead us too? It doesn't make sense. We feel we have something that would benefit them for all eternity, so that's what we share.
But just remember the scriptures tell us that a slave of the Lord does not need to fight or argue.

Well I'm not really an Atheist, but I suspect there are several reasons:

1-There is no way any amount of mocking and hassle they present here comes close to what they deal with from the Religous folks. So call it venting, frustration whatever. When the majority of religious people become more accepting of them and their views perhaps they will in turn lighten up.

2-Because it bothers you.

3-Because while those who have religion are confident in their beliefs, most athiest are confident in their ability to think...out think those who simply believe.

4-Some just need the attention. And as we all know, even negative attention is better than no attention.

Might I suggest you simply...turn the other cheek.

Four questions in one. Taking them in order:

1) It's not at all important to me to prove anything.

2) Open forum. Freedom of speech means you get to mock anything.

3) Chuckle. If you've been following the believer - versus - nonbeliever debate, then you know that no believer ever lost his faith to a mere argument. It's impossible to argue someone out of an opinion which s/he was never argued into in the first place. Faith is generally pretty safe from reason.

4) Believe whatever you like. Really. Your beliefs, in and of themselves, don't make any difference to me. It's what people do on the basis of such beliefs that makes a difference to me and others like me. Besides, it's perfectly fair -- believe it or not -- to call stupid things stupid, no matter how reverently those stupid things may be regarded by others.

I have meet few people that are really fit what an “atheist” is.

I have met mostly “agnostics” - when you can get them to actually talk about what it is that they believe.

Why the need for many to “prove to us that there is no God”?

Some may really honestly be an “atheist” and really believe that they need to share this “truth”.

Many do it because of a bitter feeling towards Christianity in general because of a bad experience, being forced to attend services when they didn’t want to - a host of reasons that can be found when you take the time to read what many have written. Hurt can harden a person very quickly. Being forced to be around a 'holier than thou' type will most def. turn people off and make them anything but 'friendly' to anything that has to do with God.

But then there are the one’s that will attack your belief in God and secretly be hoping that you will be able to ‘prove’ them wrong. They really would like to have the hope of God - just don’t know how to go about it.

Just depends upon where the individual person is coming from.

No one can prove that there is no god.

No one can prove that there is.

I think that people who do not believe in god sometimes feel like those people that do hold too much power, (for example, an avowed atheist could never get elected to public office, textbooks manufacturers are altering science texts based on the demands of fundamentalists, etc.) and so they lash out where they can, asking unanswerable questions to demonstrate what they see as silly.

Will there ever be an end to questions like this? Listen, please, please, please listen. I'm sure that we make ourselves very clear on this subject. We know that there is no way to disprove God. We do know, however, that there is no solid evidence for God, while there is some evidence that would lead us against His existence.

We do not come here to mock you and make fun of your beliefs. All I came here for was to get some answers, and to answer some questions as honest as I can. Discussion of Religion and Spirituality does include discussion of absence of it.

It is not important for me to make you stop having faith, but I'm trying to get my words in on what I think of a situation. I'd like for people to consider our side sometime, and look beyond your faith to see if it actually does make sense. I do not answer questions that are obviously not directed towards me.

Now, what other people believe does make a difference to me. This relates to your next statement that we should live our lives and leave you alone. Do you know how difficult it is to live in this country, where over 70% of the population has one main religion that is undoubtably Christianity? I'm constantly impaired because of this. Sometimes I'm threatened and shamed for being an atheist, for reasons that are absolutely ridiculous to me. Do you know about how society completely favors believers over non-believers? You should. The signs are everywhere.

It's different than you think.

All of the questions I've asked in this answer up to this point were clearly rhetorical, as you should know. Here's my final question, one that I hope you actually will answer, at least in your actions: Are you going to read these answers completely biased on what you're looking for, picking the first one that completely agrees with what you're saying.. or will you pick a well thought-out answer without judgment, considering what anyone says as much as you would consider what you think?

In other words, are you asking your own rhetorical question, to tick us off and try to make us feel bad, to turn around and pick something that you would have said yourself anyway, or are you actually seeking real reasons?

Tell me, or show me.

Because your wasting our time and money. Religion is the leading cause of war and hate between cultures ex.Africa,The crusades......Religion takes away from the true search to find meaning in our existence. Religious leaders can do nothing with their lives and still be rich because of their position. Churches are built with wasted resources. And because you actively try to bring people into your religion peacefully or not...you stilll try to make your pathetic faith known to as many people as you can. Religion creates just another freakin difference between us. Like we dont already fight about color and race, but NO! then religion has to shake things up too! And lets face it, sunday is pretty much wasted because religion comes in and shuts everything down like sunday shopping and christmas.......jeez christmas is a waste of time and money, same with easter and all the other stupid holidays that fuel capitalist to rid our pockets of every penny. Schools and politics are influenced by your higher members such as the pope and all the other conservative preists that ruin freedom and make fun of the different people within our society. So when it all comes down to it......unless your religion costs nothing but your own time and until your people stop talking or even suggesting God to anyone who is not a believer at birth, then I wont stop making fun of your beliefs becuase you annoy me and many others with my beliefs that religion is the ultimate waste of everything since it was created. BLAAAAAAAAAAAGh!

The problem is that the religious are not letting others live their lives. In five States atheists are not allowed to vote, in seven states they are not allowed to testify in court. they have to swear allegiance to your God above allegiance to their nation. They are forced to use currency proclaiming your faith. They see many other forms of oppression of their beliefs.
If the religious could let others live in peace without blowing up clinics, murdering doctors or flying airplanes into buildings then they might not be so upset.
I don't blame the atheists for being angry when your religious leaders come out advocating prisons or possible execution for them. (Falwell on 700 Club)

In the first place, it can not be proven, any more than the existence of god can be proven. The motive is to convince people to act on reason and evidence, rather than on superstitious nonsense; every bit of time, effort, and money devoted to religion is completely wasted, to the great disadvantage of not only the practitioner but also society as a whole. If you spend your time praising god, it does me no good; but if you invent and sell me a better widget, we both benefit.

So you don't like it when someone presents a different point of view. This is an open forum. It's for everyone. Plus I don't mock christians, I mock ridiculous beliefs and closeminded statements.

I say over and over and over again that I cannot, nor will I ever try to, prove that God doesn't exist. No one can prove a negative. I can't disprove Yahweh just like you can't disprove the Flying Spaghetti Monster and Russell's Teapot.

I don't come here to mock you. If you feel offended by reality, that's not my doing. I'm not going to stop approaching life rationally and realistically just because if offends your personal dogma. If you feel "mocked" by this, again, it's not my intention but I'm not going to stop.

Why do I oppose faith? Because it allows for inflexible certainty in the absence of justification and reason. Because it isn't a valid epistemological procedure. Because people let it influence them when it comes to voting and legislation when people should remain religious dispassionate in regards to the law. Because social policy is being unjustly manipulated by religious doctrine.
