I beileve there is no need for god or a creator...since time is really an illusion....like I dont there could really be a true beginning or it would just keep going in circles...by saying what came b4 that and b4 that. I am very spiritual and find it hard to beleive that the universe oneday...somehow..for no reason appeared from 'nothingness' I dont beleive in "god" really or atleast a personal god ..so would I be considerd an 'atheist' or what????

An atheist is someone who lacks belief in any gods.

We actually don't know how the universe came to be. It could have come from nothing like some huge quantum event, or there could have been a meta-universe that this one came from. If there was a meta-universe, we have no idea how that universe would work. There are theories, such as string theory, about how universes come to be. However, in the absense of evidence, it would be silly to guess.

Well... the only thing you have to examine is exactly whether or not you believe that there are any gods out there. If the answer is a confident no, you're an atheist. If you're not sure, you'll want to be looking at agnosticism, instead. Atheist simply means a person who does not believe in any deities. That's all, period. Anything else supernatural is still up for grabs. You may believe in spirits, magic, life energy, or whatever else you want, and it would still be accurate to call yourself an atheist. But I'll warn you, there will be a lot of people who don't understand that. They assume that atheist automatically means you don't believe in anything supernatural.

Remember, atheism and agnosticism aren't religions, they're not systems of belief. They each only say *one* thing about what you believe. The rest is up to you.

Sounds like you may be a deist, like some of the Founding Fathers and most pre-Darwin scientists. Even today, some scientists believe in deism or pantheism as spiritual aspect of existance beyond physical reality .

Some hardcore and militant atheists don't believe you can be spiritual and an atheist. I'm an atheist that is more inclusive. I consider atheist any person who's system of belief includes the rejection of theism -- the existance of a hands-on, personal god(s) who conveys his message in the form of divine revelation to chosen individuals. (I think its both impossible and makes no sense, and an insult to the human species.)

There are even very spiritual but atheistic religions, like Buddhism, which believe in reincarnation and meditation, but don't include a god concept.

Actually, you more of agnostic than anything.

First, you don't believe in a creator, but at the same time you believe that the universe did not come from nothing... so whatever you believe it came from, that is like you version of 'God'.

Like those who believe in the Big Bang, might not believe in the same God that Christians, Jews, or Muslims believe in, but they believe that we were conceived due to the big bang, which make the big bang their 'creator' because everything goes back to that.

I hope I was able to answer your question, or help you in any way... but ya, your not an Atheist

An atheist believes there is no God or higher power guiding the universe.
An agnostic doubts the existence of this power, or believes that it cannot be proved and we can't assume either way if there is one or not.
An existentialist believes that there is no order in the universe, everything just happens randomly, without higher purpose.
I think you sound more like an existentialist or agnostic.

You are probably an agnostic. You sound like you do sort of believe in a creator, but not really.

It is simple. If you believe there is no god then you are an atheist. An agnostic says it is impossible to tell. A deist says there probably is a creator but he really doesn't have anything to do with us.

I'd say somewhere between a theist and an agnostic. Perhaps the most important criterion to apply to any proposed belief is: can it make predictions -- is it useful for something? In the case of every religion, the answer is provably: NO.

That is considered an Einsteinian form of spirituality... Richard Dawkins discusses that in the "God Delusion". Give it a read, you may find it helpful.

Einstein did not consider himself an atheist, but he did not believe in a personal god.

It is believed by many that God is beyond comprehension and that all the things we need to be good
moral creatures of excellence are within us from birth. This
philosophy is found in some Eastern philosophies and perhaps you might want to study them.

Atheism is a religion that believes there is no god and that the individual is supremely important and nothing else matters. their doctrine includes the persecution and proselytizing of Christians and what ever benefits "myself" is OK even if it includes murder
