My friend was kidnapped as baby she is now 25. According to relatives Her father killed her mother and took her and ran off into some cult(dont ask me how he got away with it). She has no ID because her father will not tell her her real name, where she is born, her birthday or her mothers real name. She is scared to go to the authorities because she fears retalion. Does anybody know any organization I can contact to help her or have any idea of somethign she can do?

YOU go to the police....thats what I would do...this man shouldnt get away with killing anybody let alone his own daughters mother. The police wont let anything happen to her. Explain to them the situation of how she fears retalliation from him and they will make sure her father doesnt know anything about it up until the time they have enough evidence to arrest him.

Here's some things to think about. Does your friend
A. Have her own place to live?
B. Have a job?
C. Own a car?
D. Have insurance of any kind?
E. Have a bank account?
F. Credit cards?
G. Receive any kind of financial aid from a State or Federal source?
H. Have a college education?
I. Use Food Stamps?

If the answer to any of these questions is "yes" then she is probably pulling your leg... In this day and age, it is almost impossible to function in society without some sort of federal and state I.D. Virtually EVERY aspect of life in the U.S. requires either a Social Security Number, a Drivers License, or extreme personal wealth.

Sorry, the story sounds like B.S. to me, unless your friend is jobless, homeless, penniless and retarded.

Battered women's shelters. I'm sure one of them would be more than willing to take her in. You should be able to find some in your area with a quick google search. They may also have listings in your local phonebook. I would certainly certainly consider this to be a case of abuse, I'm sure they will, as well. Remember, though, she is really going to have to *want* to get out, for any of these suggestions to work. Make sure that she believes she is ready.
