I am 15 and I have a friend who is a very strict Christian (doesn't even wear shorts in the summer in the 100 degrees) who also believes very strongly in creationism. I don't have a very strong feeling towards evolution OR creationism, but as much as I want to believe creationism is completely true, I tend to lean towards evolution because there is just so much scientific proof.
Well my question is should I tell her my opinion, even though she is very against evolution. As a christian who belives in creationism would you think less of a friend who didn't?
Thank you very much. =)

If your friend thinks less of you based solely upon your beliefs in evolution, then that person is truly not your friend.

You seem to be able to remain friends with her, when her beliefs are different than yours. If she cannot afford you the same respect, then she doesn't deserve your friendship.

WTF with the thumbs down?!? I didn't mention which viewpoint had more validity or anything...I'm simply saying that anyone who judges you for your beliefs isn't worth your time... dolts.

And to Jenntom - your "PROOF" is related to a misunderstanding of the scientific meaning of the word THEORY. It doesn't mean theory in the colloquial sense. That would be a HYPOTHESIS, which is then tested extensively until it becomes an accepted THEORY.

If you want to share your opinion with her and she is a true Christian she should be glad to have an honest discussion with you about it and not be condemning. That having been said, the theory of evolution is a huge house of cards that many secular scientists admit is so flawed it should be rejected. Some of them even admit that the only reason they continue to support the theory is because the only other alternative is that a supernatural being created everything and they don't want to have to go there.

Micro-evolution, evolution within a species is totally scientific and can easily be demonstrated. But the theory that inorganic matter came alive and organized itself into complex life forms, and that a fish became a frog that became a reptile that became a mammal goes against all that science teaches regarding genetics, dna structures, and heredity. The science of statistical analysis puts the theory of evolution in the realm of being scientifically impossible to have happened.

Why don't you do yourself a favor before you talk to your friend and check out The Evolution Cruncher so you can get some insights as to why this "theory" is a joke?

Here's the link and if you click on it just read some of it unless you want to read the whole booklet http://www.godrules.net/evolutioncruncher/CruncherTOC.htm

I am also a christian who believes in creation. I don't understand why she doesn't wear shorts . But anyway there is more proof to support creation than evolution. That's why it's called the THEORY of evolution. You should really research both sides and then decide what you believe. Your friend probably is so strict because we know what we believe to be true. Good luck in your search hope you find the truth for yourself. As far as your friendship goes a true friend will still be your friend no matter if your beliefs are the same or not.

Before you decide, try to find a scientific book FOR creationism and see if it seems logical to you. Oftentimes, Creationists use philosophical arguments against scientific. This doesn't really work so I'd look up some scientific debate on the Creationist side.
As for your friend, I don't really know what to tell you. I probably wouldn't dis you, but she sounds like she leans toward the religious.

I believe that evolution and creationism are intertwined. CRAZY! Isn't it? I think God used evolution as a part of creation. It never said that God created the earth in one week. It could have been thousands of years in between those seven day (hence dinosoars). There is so much scientific proof and yet there is so much proof for creationism. I think that if you talk about it with your friend as a discussion (a two person discussion) and not a straight forward "Hey! This is what I believe, and if you don't, then you are not my friend!" kind of thing, then it will be okay. Ask her opinion. Make it a discussion, not a preaching. REMEMBER!!!! Evolution is not entirely evil! God could have just of used it as easily and *poof* making the earth the way it is. Besides, who cares! You've got Christ. What else matters?

It depends on your friend. If she is a true friend, she will be open to listening to your opinion, if nothing else but to lead you in the right direction towards God and creationism. She'd not want you to fall for man-made ideas that science TR*ES to prove, but have not, it's just a theory. Whereas the Word of God is all truth, prophecies have come true, no errors with God. Pray to the Lord for truth. Your friend will not change her opinion if she is a true believer. Don't always live by how you feel, live by truth. Ask her to help you with your uncertainties, I'm sure she will. God bless.

I'm the same way as u! i do believe that God created everything in this universe. But i also think that it is possible that he could have used evolution in created humans. To me, it isn't crazy to think that God had a part in evolution, and that he chose to have humans evolve into what we are today. My point is that evolution isn't out of the question for me, but i am definately sure that God is the one who created us whether it was through evolution or not. I wouldn't think less of someone as a PERSON because they don't believe that God created us, but i would think less of them as a christian, if they were one. Evolution doesn't rule out God altogether, it's very possible that God created us through evolution. Try telling this to ur friend and good luck! (=

Also don't be afraid to question some common beliefs in christianity! i kno that God wants us to question things. it's important in every christian's life to come to believe things that we have really thought about, not just things that our pastor told us to believe because its the 'right thing'. Form some opinions of ur own regardless of what other people think. (=

I also believe in creationism. If my friend did not believe what I did, I would not hold it against her. But there would be a debate. Debating evolution with creation is a tough one though, because it is hard to change someones mind. If your friend is the kind who will not judge you, and accepts you for who you are, then go ahead and tell her. But if it will start a argument, leave it alone.

if you feel you need to discuss it with the girl then go for it. if she is such a devout christian she will respect you,but that doesn't mean she will have to discuss it with you just remember that. i don't know why it is bothering you though?are you wanting her to believe in evolution as opposed to creationism for any particular reason? just be friendly and respect her aswell.

I dont see the difference between the two really....like if 'god' created the universe and things started changing and evolving. I dont really even beleive in time....I think it is illusion...I mean could there really be a beginning...wouldnt it keep going in circles...like what was b4 that and b4 that. I would desribe myself a spiritual agnostic...I bealive there is truth to the universe but I dont think any one...religion of science knows what it is///.;'
