If we are to believe books such as the Bible, we are to believe that God spoke personally to certain people. Given the fact that God is Unchanging, doesn't it make sense that God is still speaking to regular people who aren't necessarily leaders of churches, etc.? If so, who are these people?*

*God, in all cases, can simply be substituted with your Divinity of choice.

I used to date this girl and I have never been able to get over her in 2 years. I have prayed to God countless times to help me or show me a sign of what I am supposed to do to get over her.
This last weekend, I fell asleep during a prayer time at church and I dreamed an entire day from my relationship with the girl word for word. It was the day that I finally trusted her completely and realized that I really did love her. The next night, my mom (unprovoked) talked to me about how someone can regret breaking up with someone for the rest of their life. She then talked to me about my relationship with the girl and told me that she thinks I should pray about it and that she things God intended for the girl to be with me.
I was a tad distressed, seeing as I still talk to the girl everyday but we are both dating other people (we still admit to liking each other in subtle ways). That is not the point. The point is, was the occurrence of my dream and my mom's speech coincidence or a sign?

It seems to be many fossils attesting an evolution from an ape-looking being to what we nowadays look like... Australopithecus, Homo erectus, etc.

Check Lucy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucy_%28Australopithecus%29

I am Catholic and I can not undertand why born- agains are so judgemental against other faiths....or the slander against atheists, wiccans, etc. and think they are the ONLY Christians.

I am NOT here to condemn another's belief.......but will try to answer anything pertaining to the Catholic faith.

I also look for the answers of others so I can see their perspective on their philosophy of the world we live in.

Wisdom is seeking knowledge.

Respecting one another is a virtue.

To make a long story short..

When I was in rehab a bunch of us women were in a group camping in the desert at night time.. Talking about our belief in a God or Higher Power.. I was the only one who was unsure about God and if He really even existed or heard my prayers and I wanted some kind of reassurance to just 'let me know..'

After I spoke the rest of them women were just thinking or talking quietly and I looked up in the sky and saw a bright ball of light come out from the heavens and shoot across the horizon for a few seconds.. I was so shocked - I know what an airplane or shooting star looks like.. So I felt like this was really a sign from Him letting me know he was really there..

I wasn't hallucinating or anything like that 'cause I was clean for months..

Do you think that it's possible it was a sign from God to me? Many will say it's not.. At any rate, I feel totally blessed 'cause I've seen nothing like that in my life before.

That's what made me believe.

And what are you...are non believers more likely to do 'good works' (I say that because I know some believers don't seem think it matters) or is everyone?

John 16:12-14
16:12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come.
16:14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall show it unto you.
DO NOT TELL ME IT IS GHOST. IF IT IS GHOST SHOW ME GHOST. HAVE YOU EVER SEEN ANY GHOST HOLY OR UN-HOLY BUT THE HOLLYWOOD GHOSTS.

Ok I have always had a problem with this aspect of christianity... people say that even if you are the embodiment of goodness in your life on earth.. you help all sorts of people etc do good things, never do anything bad... you will still go to hell if you dont believe in jesus/god. According to one answerer of a question about that.... and I quote..
People's "good works"are like filthy rags to God.
Only accepting Jesus will get you in (Romans 10,Rev 18-22,John 3).

If that is true then whats the point of being christian?? If you dont have to do anything good, you dont have to care about anything all you have to do is accept god, jesus whatever and you are saved and will go to heaven when you die. What is the point of that? makes no sense to me.. isnt life about being good? whats the point in worshipping something that doesnt even care how much good you do, and wont reward you for it... and only cares about just how much you care about them..everything else is just "filthy rags"

I feel like I've been in a rut for the last few years. I've been in rehab, I've been a cutter, I am bi-polar and I have many periods of depression where I feel like things aren't ever going to get better..

I'm trying though. I want better for myself. I no longer "cut" or use drugs like I did - but there is still one thing that remains.. My sadness. I only ask God to forgive me of my sins.. But never my sadness.. Can He get sick of me praying to him when I'm in tears, asking Him for help, or why He's not helping me?

Sometimes I think that he's fed up with me feeling sorry for myself for all the jacked up things that just seem to keep happening to me..

Ive read alot of people on here throwing out the verse, Judge not, be not judged..

What do you consider judging?

If I notice my father for instance, and he is having a beer (my dad doesnt drink, but for instance sake) and I believe that is a sin, and I tell him "Dad, you shouldnt be doing that" According to what Ive read, that is judging in alot of peoples eyes...

I believe God gave us discernment. The bible says to "Judge righteous judgement". Also, the bible says to watch for wolves in sheeps clothing, false teachers... How would we do this, if we did not judge or decide, if what they are teaching is right?

I know alot of people think that the verse judge not be not judged (sorry, I dont feel like copying and pasting the verses, go to a serch engine and type it, youll get the verse numbers) is saying we cant judge anything, anyone anytime. But if you read the whole passage, it says to dont judge as a hypocrit. First get yourself right, then help your friend. Your thoughts

I am not bashing Jesus. I am just saying that corruption can lead to the religion rotting from within. Look at the Ted Haggarty scandal. I am not anti-homosexual or pro-homosexual. I don't care what other people do in the sack. Its not my business. Ted Haggarty like many other Christians are good at butting into other people's private lives without pointing the finger back unto themselves. I think that this fake "holier that thou" corruption is starting to drive the sheep out of the barn. Its ok if you are anti-gay, only if you mean it and don't hide a secret gay life. I am starting to see more and more of this. I had a hardcore Christian friend and sometimes he bragged about cheating on his wife.
