This is universal.. parents want their children to do better then they have in life throughout their lives. In this way, the family heritage is strengthened and survival of the family line continues. If children do worst, parents become concerned regarding the child's abilitiy to successfully adapt to the demands of a changing physical or social environment and may initially seek assistance from their primary groups. Secondary sociocultural structures will intervene if the child fails to thrive in society.

Good parents want their children to find success and fulfillment in life as adults. This is pretty universal. For some parents the fulfillment part includes a particular religious philosophy, for others, religion doesn't matter as long as their children enjoy and appreciate the lives they lead.

I'm a father with two grown sons and can tell you that you want your children to be happy, well adjusted and successful. Good parents do the things that make this happen, including making sure they get a good education, have their confidence built ny allowing them the freedom to fail and by making sure above all else that they know they are loved and valued.

"Good parents" will let their children decide what they want to do.

Parents will teach their children ethics, morality, respect, humility, honor, justice, etc... "Good parents" make sure that their children are taught what is needed when they are raised.

"Good parents" allow their children to choose their own future.
