NO. Why should it? It represents what it took (Christs death on a CROSS) to deliver us from sin and eternal damnation. What's the"hate" thing about that? Maybe it shows hate for sin.. Jesus gives His life for us... including you, and you call it hate? That's kind of like saying a soldier that dives on a hand grenade so the explosion won't kill others was a hateful thing for him to do. If dying for another, sacrificing of self for the benefit of another is hate, then what's an act and symbol of love?

it could be, and it determines who misuses it to further their evil agenda. Just like the swastika was an Indian/Buddhist symbol and the Nazi's used it in their campaign. It is up to human perception/misapplication of a symbol. In other words, it is the commonly understood meaning behind the symbol rather than the symbol itself.
