The way most people describe heaven...... well, to be stuck there forever sounds a lot like hell. I vote that he bailed.

Satan's real name is Lucifer. He was the most beautiful angel and he thought be was equal to God. He was in heaven but rebelled and was cast out of heaven.

God cast him out when he said other angels should praise him. There was other angels (now demons) which were cocky too that along with Satan were cast from heaven.

I am a Muslim and islamically, Satan was so beautiful, made of brilliant fire, that when God asked all the angels, which is what Satan is, to bow before man which he made using the earth, Satan got indignant feeling he was too good to bow before mud. He then asked God if God would give him respite and prove how stupid and undeserving man was of such reverence. God allowed it saying Satan would never be able to dissuade any true believers. Satan TOTALLY believes and knows God is supreme and will laugh at man on the day of judgment and tell him he never made man do anything; all he did was whisper and Man obeyed.

There are two lines of thought on that from Biblical scholars. Some say he led a revolt on Heaven. Others say he is helping God by bringing humans the light (the name Lucifer means Light-bearer). There are those who believe that his is a seat of honor, given by God and those who believe he was cast.
I'm not Christian, just a neutral observer that likes to read.

Well considering there is no proof of Heaven, or Hell (unless you count 5 o'clock traffic, major debt, the world dieing due to technology) then Satan is just a fictional mythological Christian character.
