Something cannot come from nothing so something was.
So something has to be eternal in origin.

I am an athiest and was wondering if any of you have had revealed your athiesm to someone's parents which you were dating, and they, after making a face of disgust, try to compell your signifigant other to break up with you. It has happened to me, It's kind of a strange predicament

Following up on some of the answers i got the first time around. I wanted to say that as a Christian, i am not saying i'm better than anyone else or that Christians are the only ones who take any slack. However being a Christian i would of course notice it coming more from the other side of the fence.

Do you think there will ever be a common ground on this site?

We played this game in elementary school. Get about 20 people in a line. The first person writes a story and whispers it to the 2nd. The 2nd whispers the same story to the 3rd, and so on down the line. Then the last person repeats the story and they compare it to what is written down.

The New Testament was written years after Jesus died. Could some of the miracles and other stories be subject to the same disfiguration as the story in the game?

I asked this question yesterday: "Did God create mathematics? Or does mathematical truth exist apart from God? Is it possible that, if God had so determined, that 2 + 2 could equal 5?"

I really want to know the answer to this question, and there were, in fact, about 20 answers, some interesting, but today I find that the question and all the answers have been erased from Yahoo answers as offensive.

For 2 years my family has went to a certain Church, and there were some issues there, but now looking back they aren't as important as we thought. We started a new one 2 months ago, and the more we go, the less we like it. Every time we make the decision to go back to the old one, something from the new one comes up. For example our old Pastor called and left a message, then the new Pastor's wife called and and left a message after that. I thought God was telling us something. Then last night my husband went to the old one because he was really missing it and wanted to make sure they would be accepting of us coming back and so we decided to go back for good. Then this morning I get a message from the new Church that there is an event that they would like us to join in on this Sunday after Church!!! We have been reading the Bible and praying but haven't felt strongly either way where God wants us. We want to do His will, but this is sssssssooooooooo hard.. PLEASE HELP!!

Every one stems from Abraham right? Jews are linked to the 12 tribes, Muslims come from judah, those of europe can trace some ancestors back to those roots. The Native Americans and Polynesians have links to Abraham through those who came to America from Jerusalem and the Tower of Babel according to the LDS faith. But where do Asians fit in? Did they just start with the Tower of Babel and we never heard from them? I've heard of a visitation in ancient Asian tradition of a great white God similar to those in South America and native Americans. How do they fit in with that history? Know any good books that explain it?

I don't care if you are for gay marriage or against it. What I do care about is anyone forcing their ridiculous religious dogma on me through our laws.

Who marries whom hurts no one else. It has no affect on me or you if Adam marries Steve, as you all love to put it.

Live and let live. Worry about your own morals and leave the rest of us to do the same for ourselves.

Perhaps covering all the earth was simply covering everything that they perceived around them, hence being the entire earth?

Does it have to be litterally the entire planet?

What's your take on this?

Please, no bashing or preaching. Just answer the question. ;-)

" And when they were come into the house , they saw the young child with Mary his mother , and fell down and worshipped (him): and when they had opened their treasures , they presented unto (him) gifts ; gold , and frankincence , and myrrh." Matthew 2:11. Today when Catholics go into a church the first one they address is Mary.We were recently at a Catholic funeral and the only time the name of Jesus was said is when they would "Hail Mary mother of Jesus." Why didn't the wise men say "Hail Mary mother of Jesus when they saw her ????

Muslims had the highest male unemployment rate in GreatBritain. At 14 per cent, this was over three times the rate for Christian men(4 per cent).

Among women, Muslims again had the highest unemployment rate, at15 per cent. This was almost four times the rate for Christian women (4per cent). Hindus (11 per cent) and Buddhists (10 per cent) had the nexthighest rates.

Men and women of working age from the Muslim faith are also more likely than other groups in Great Britain to be economically inactive, thatis, not available for work and/or not actively seeking work.

Among working age men, Muslims had the highest overall levels ofeconomic inactivity in 2003-2004 – 30 per cent compared with 16 percent of Christians. Within each religious group women were more likely than men to beeconomically inactive. More than two thirds (68per cent) of Muslim women of working age were economically inactive compared with no more than a third of women of working age in each ofthe other groups.

Let me first start by saying that this question is not meant for starting any fights. I was wondering why it seems that no matter what a Christian says on here, somebody always has something rude to say or throws the whole "it's just a myth" thing at them? I don't mean to offend anyone and i also now that Christians will be perscuted. It just seems that on this site Christians can't say anything to please anyone.

I am a Christian and for the most part, the rude slander just makes me want to learn more about my Savior.

God bless.

I'm sure most of you have seen some medieval paintings, statues, carvings and books which show God "the Father" as an old man, slightly bulky or muscular, wearing a robe with long white hair and big, bushy white beard. However, these were made in countries where Catholicism or trinitarian Protestantism prevailed. According to Trinitarianism, the three are one essence and only Jesus has a physical body. From the earliest times, Christianity has taught that God is a Spirit.

Personally, I don't believe in trinitarian doctrine. I'm just curious as to why they used to portray God is this way.

....And if millions upon millions of dinosaurs in all varieties were coexisting with humans only about 6000 years ago, why is there not more evidence for this?, as there is plenty of evidence of human life and structures which have lasted thousands of years.

and.....how long did all these dinosaurs live for? How did so many varieties of dinosaurs, "prehistoric" sea creatures, and birds die so fast?
did the birds and sea creatures ALSO die in the flood? and how when so many other species seemed to have survived?
