Well most people with a religion are close minded..that is why they bash gays, blacks...etc. The only people that are open to other peoples beliefs and dont argue with them are ironicly people that dont have a religion.

Ahhhhh, gotta love those "I'm right and your wrong" kinda people. It's like 3rd grades fighting.
"I'm right and your not"
"No I'm right"
"No I am!!!"
"Prove it"
"This book says I am"
"Oh yeah, My book says I'm right. So there!"
I look at it this way. I respect other religions. You have made you choice. Who am I to say you are right or wrong? Has booming voice from the sky told me that I am? A burning bush maybe? A little bird landed on my shoulder telling me it was a messenger from god? Nope, I made my choice after doing research on many religions and I found one that I liked. Right or wrong, it is my decision to make.
Choose what you will, but judge not lest ye be judged.

There is, in the human brain, a mechanism that divides sensory input into polar dyads, two opposing ideas. This mechanism evolved as a survival tool. It still exists within us, leading to the sort of "Us vs Them" mentality that leads us to such dichotomies as "Democrat vs Republican," "Evolution vs Creationism," and that sort of thing. We tend to respond to comments about whatever belief system in which we're invested as an attack from the "Them" and respond by protecting "Us,"

If a person believes that their religion is the "one true" religion, then you can't be tolerant of other people's religion. Obviously, they are wrong. How can you tolerate someone being wrong?
That's the problem with all these "one true religions".

I am not closeminded, however, some are. I believe that it is fear that keeps them for seeking information. You may see some of this fear in the answers to this question.

because what I believe is right. why should I discuss your belief with you, when it's obviously wrong?

i was brought up catholic. I think, as it is now, FEAR is a driving force. if you didnt do this or that god will send you to hell!! god loves you but you have to follow all his rules. god will protect you but you have to follow everything he says. when i was a kid i was afraid to sneeze without saying 'god bless you' just to cover myself.
