Do you beleive in the power of prayer?

Will you pray for my special intentions?

The only reason I can see that someone would ask another about their religion is to save them from false doctrine so they can go to heaven. But if someone doesn't believe in God or salvation, then they are not trying to help them. They are just trying to deceive them and make them angry. There must be something wrong with them. It is the devil. And if it's the devil, then God exists, Their has to be something making people hate others. Why would they want to talk to someone they hate? If its fun to question someones religion, how is that fun? There are a lot more fun things to do.

""27But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: 29That no flesh should glory in his presence." 1 Corinthians 1:27-29

Ok... I want to know what makes you personally want or not want to go to a church... It doesn't matter what kind of church just any church.

Here's a couple of questions to keep in mind while answering:

1.) If you were invited by a friend would you go?
2.) Would it be easier to go to a special event and not a service?
3.) Do you go to church at all? If yes, How often?
4.) Do you think "church people" are friendly?
5.) What would make church better for you?
6.) Do you think people care what you wear to church?

Thank you so much for taking the time to read and answer my questions...this is a HUGE help with a survey project!

Do you believe in it?

The future is either set in stone (and there's nothing we can do about it) or it's not. You can't have it both ways.

You can't say, "The bible fortells the future."

And also say, "Man has free will."

Those two statements contradict themselves.

So which is it?

you know, you scroll forever to get past the pasted quotes from the bible or koran. often, they are complete non-sequiturs, posted there no matter what the topic of the question is.
I think I'm gonna start pasting long quotes from various authors who are atheists...just throw them in there wherever it feels right.

What is the purpose of "worshiping" something so powerful?

It's all-powerful. It doesn't need anything to worship it.

Unless it has some sort of a self-esteem issue that is.

Is that it? Does your "god" have an inferiorority complex?

Rather odd, given the fact that it's supposed to be all-powerful, don't you think?

Supposing everything "prehistoric" is constantly regenerated since it wasn't that long ago....

Oil must form quickly, why is it "limited" and when it's gone, it's gone?

If what your saying is true, that the earth was created only 6000 years ago, how was oil formed and why is it that it will run out and not be replenished?

Homosexuality is an abimonation! So is wearing clothing of mixed fibers and eating shellfish. It's a sin! One among thousands in the bible that you yourselves commit daily and have no intention of trying to stop--when you can honestly tell me you have completely given up coveting, envy, sloth, pride, and vanity and will never again look at any other person with the slightest bit of lust in your heart, then maybe you can talk, but until then, stop throwing stones. Your own god told you to!

Do you need evidence or do you take it on faith?

2007-01-18 04:25:48 · 6 answers · asked by Anonymous

There is no proof on either side, Trying to find God without proof is Agnosticism. from the Greek a, meaning "without" and gnosis, "knowledge", translating to unknowable. I dont care how much faith you say you have or even how huch lack of faith you say you have. NOBODY KNOWS.

..i think that all of gods and godeses are false..first arg. that i will say to split most of your thoughts is that there are i don`t know 1-10 whatever religions..and they are different kinda so even there is one..he can`t be 1-7 in the same time..so this for example leaves it to God religion..there are too many impressions and doubts in my life that lead to not bielieve that..like say a pray..wtf is that?
I bielieve more in the actual power of the HUMAN,not becouse he pray`d or something,i didn`t passed the math test becouse i prayed,i passed it ONLY BECOUSE i learned(or cop,you could say this is a litlle issue..on bigger things it`s just more complex but it`s the same.
on earth everything is based on human action,on our actions, what someone really incredibile calls it like...this is god`s hand,or i pray`d for it for years bla wahteve,it`s just something that we can`t understand or ain`t inteligent enough..anyway there would be more to talk about. sorry for my grammar im16pm me

(Since the consensus is that you do not ‘worship’ her) that they have to defend this with such animosity? Is there anywhere in the Bible that says we are to pray to Mary for anything? And please show me where in the Bible are we to pray to Saints or images! We as Christians are taught not to pray to anything dead and yes, Mary is dead and is no more sitting at the right or the left hand of God than you are I. Praying to the dead is a sin and was not ever condoned to do by the Apostolic Church (the Church led by the Apostles) which teachings completely differs from the Catholic Church’s teachings. The Apostles didn't pray to the mother of Jesus or an image of her or any Saints - nor did they teach such a perversion and wicked sin. The Apostles had no graven images of Mary, Joseph; baby Jesus, Crucifixes, Rosary beads that they said prayers with or Jesus on a cross hanging around their necks or on top of steeples on their churches. So the question is what makes the Catholics think that this is truth? And my second question, why Mary is in any prayer to the God since she never was before the Roman Emperor Constantine’s involvement! And something else to think about; When Mary asked the disciples to go get Jesus for her, Jesus didn’t stop what He was doing and tell anyone to pray to His mother – but one would think that if she was in such a place of high esteem that He would have left strict instructions on how to pray to her (like he did on how to pray to His Father).

I imagine that most everyone considers himself or herself to be quite the moral person, but really, are we all that good? On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the most moral, law-abiding and truthful person possible, and 1 being the compulsive liar who murders for fun, where are you?
