The only reason I can see that someone would ask another about their religion is to save them from false doctrine so they can go to heaven. But if someone doesn't believe in God or salvation, then they are not trying to help them. They are just trying to deceive them and make them angry. There must be something wrong with them. It is the devil. And if it's the devil, then God exists, Their has to be something making people hate others. Why would they want to talk to someone they hate? If its fun to question someones religion, how is that fun? There are a lot more fun things to do.
""27But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: 29That no flesh should glory in his presence." 1 Corinthians 1:27-29

No honey.... I'm SURE you won't listen, but a lot of people are trying to tell you that the reason atheists come here is to educate and to correct errors and misconceptions.
I don't hate Christians. I don't hate Wiccans. I don't even hate Scientologists. What I do hate is ignorance and lies. I see nothing wrong with combating those two things.

..... To understand. Its not about saving from hell, its about education. Why can't you Christians get that?
You people seem to think this is the Christian only board and it isn't. Other religions are welcome here to. Except by Christians.
If you notice, no other religions on here argue and fight and try to harass other people into believing in their religion the way Christians do. I actually saw a regular poster on here go into the gay and lesbian section just to "save them" by harassing them about their own religion.
No other religion does things like that. Just Christians. Because y'all can't live and let live. You have to convert everyone around you.
Though I argue on the Atheists side, I'm actually Wiccan and I frankly like the Atheists presence. They serve as a control element in YA. They put some control on the Christians who would run rampant and insult everyone.
Try posting a question from or for another religion sometime on these forums and see the really mean answers you get from Christians. Maybe then you'll understand what I've posted.
At least the Atheists are willing to become educated about other religions just for informational purposes. Most of the Christians aren't willing to do that.

Is that really the only reason you can think of? Then you haven't been listening.
Here is one possible reason why they may want to convince you of their position: For someone who is an atheist, this world is everything. It is, therefore, imperitive that we not waste what we can do here. Their arguments are not an atempt you from wasting your afterlife -- but from wasting your life.
As an agnostic, I have no position on that point. But I come here because there is a fringe group of Christians who want to legislate their morality and their beliefs. One need only look a tthe Terri Shiavo case and the Kansas Board of Education's attempt to block the teaching of evolution to see that we must be vigilant in our work to stop these people.

the route may be slender, even though it would want to no longer lie the position conservatives imagine it does. in basic terms because God's route is slender and the conservatives' ideology is slender does no longer advise they are interior an same position. The liberal direction to righteousness might want to correctly be in basic terms as slender. although, liberals walk a route of tolerance and compassion, no longer judgment and persecution.

You miss the obvious answer that we are trying to save you from a hell -- the hell of ignorance and mythology.
We would like to introduce you to the splendor and glory of the real world so that you can help make tomorrow a better day to be alive than today was, instead of hoping tomorrow will be the last day for all of your imaginary-god's creation (which is not in fact a creation -- it formed under natural principles).

I used to be an atheists, I asked a lot of questions and I put Christians down a lot too. That is why we should never give up preaching the good news. It may save even one!

If you lived in a country where most of the people believed in Wonko The Space Gerbil, would it matter to you? If your president, most of congress believed in the Gerbil, if there were universities, book stores, tv channels dedicated to Him. If your children had to say a pledge to the country, that mentioned the Gerbil, if "Gerbil" was on your money....wouldn't it be a little bit important?
I would hope so.

People who believe in no God is fooling themselves, so they make themselves feel better by coming down on others who are very secure in knowing that God is the one that wakes us up each and every morn. So we continue to pray for them. It must be he** on earth for them to walk around with so much fear in side of them

The reason why many atheists ask these questions IS to save you from false doctrine, but it is NOT because they believe you are going to Hell. Mostly it is because they are defending their beliefs from those that believe. Or it's because they want to open your eyes to a better life.

Because, the hell I seek to save you from is the living Hell you are putting yourselves through beleiving what you do... Not the mythical hell and heaven you beleive in. I want you to learn how to think critically for yourself so that you are not victimized by others or roped into silly schemes. I want you to avoid cults.
