Christians believe they can pray for someone in need, and god will help them.....but what about non believers? I believe you can create good karma for yourself, but can good karma be transfered to loved ones who don't make good karma for themselves????

Please read slowly and contemplate on it. Thanks.
Do you think God is so weak and don't know what to do that we have to pray and ask God to do something for us or others? If God don't know what's in our heart, than that God ain't so powerful. Who want to pray to a weak God? God knows everything that is happening. He knows you better than you know yourself. He knows everything inside out.
You don't need to ask him anything because before you ask he already know what you really need. Why what we ask don't come true is because it is not really want we need at that particular time. We may be thinking God is not listening but God knows. Whatever that comes to our life is (although we don't want it) is to teach us something. It comes for us to learn something. Usually it comes to teach us the law of love (divine love). Treat it as a blessing for it is indeed even though it is the ugliest experience ever. If that is the only way we are going to learn, than that is the way it shall be.
This is why we don't pray for other people. We let God's will be done. That is why some people say, "Lord, thy will be done". They don't tell God what to do. Instead they ask, "Lord, what is it that you want me to do in this situation?" See? They are asking what is God's will. What is it God want us to do? If you have the ear to hear, you will listen. What matters is how open are you to God?
So you see, the experience any individual going through is exactly what he needs to learn something. Why would you want to interfere with that learning process by giving the merits (deeds) you earned through your Good karma (good action) by asking or telling God what to do? Such as in prayers? Even illness comes to us to teach us something. To help us move into a higher and better state of consciousness.
If you realize that doing good is vital to place yourself in a better position in going to heaven instead of returning to this world (unless if you want to come to serve) or placed in any part of hell to pay for your bad deeds, you should share this wisdom to others and help others realize it too, instead of telling God or giving away your merits. In this way you not only do good karma through helping others, you are also helping others gain a better perspective on life and do good karma. This is what is meant by being a channel or co-worker with God.
Simply put, praying for someone is wrong and yes good karma can be transferred and it is wrong too. I hope my explanation can help you understand why they are wrong. I am sorry if my English explanations is not so good cause English is not my mother tongue but if you don't understand any part of it or don't understand it at all feel free to IM me, we can discuss it. Thanks.
Remember, God knows you more than you know yourself.
May the blessings be.

Nope.
Karma and prayer are different things.
Prayer, makes a humble request to God to forgive someone, but whose to say God will do it?
Karma transfer is unfair to the system.
If it was possible, then you could save your brother who is for example a murderer just by constantly transferring your good karma.
Everybody has to carry the responsibility of their own actions. And God makes sure of that everyday.

No... you can't transfer karma, you can only create it or put a halt to the negative fruition of karmic results from the past. You can offer MERIT for the benefit of others though, which is altruism. The best thing to do is teach the Dharma... the Buddha's words are considered more powerful than any stupa, image of the Buddha, etc. for this very reason.
I hope this helps.

Karma can not be transfered. A prayer is a plea for help and HE answers that. Jesus showed us the way. Each person must bear his own cross. Amen.

i have given this a lot of thought recently
and i think a lot of karma that people accumulate is not only brought on by themself ... but perhaps by how they have hurt others etc
so i have been experimenting with this a little
there is one person who hurts me quite bad , and in the past i have not been able to forgive them as easily .... and i have watched how they have had their payback ( karmic style )
so recently i have tried with all my heart not to allow them to affect me and to forgive them instantly ...
and it seems that there hasnt been such bad karma with them
this may be coincidence , i am still working on it
but i dont feel we transfer karma as such , but maybe we can reduce the effect ?

I believe positive thoughts create positive karma but that is a belief and not founded on any scientific evidence.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fundamental_attribution_error
Generally people use karma as a defense mechanism to deny that anything bad will happen to them and attribute negative events in other's lives as the result of their bad karma..
At the worst, people use karma as a reason to justify applying the "what goes around comes around" theory to rationalize their own twisted administration of justice.
The Bible "sowing of seeds" is a much richer concept, and leads to people being able to grow, and for others to gently suggest that another should make better choices.

No, karma stays with the soul that created it.
