There is debate as to whether or not Buddhism is a religion and I can see both sides. It is a way of living your life (so probably a perception of reality in your words), and a good way at that. cal

The very purpose of buddhism to end your sufferings. You can call it perception of reality, religion, subject, way to end sufferings or whatever you deemed appropriate.Theres nothing really wrong with either one.

The difference lies only at which angle you look at Buddhism. From angle 25, it is this, from angle 45 it is that. It still refers to the same thing.

Just know its purpose and whatever you call it doesn't really matters much.

What Gautama Buddha initially taught may not have qualified as a religion, but Buddhism as it eventually came to be, and as it exists today, is definitely a religion.

It depends on how you look at it... some consider it a religion. I consider it more of a philosophical understanding of reality passed on down from the Buddha and analyzed by the individual and accepted or not based on that analytical/logical approach.

Originally, buddhist do not see the need for a religion.

They chose to live without laws, just perspectives.
