I asked this question yesterday: "Did God create mathematics? Or does mathematical truth exist apart from God? Is it possible that, if God had so determined, that 2 + 2 could equal 5?"

I really want to know the answer to this question, and there were, in fact, about 20 answers, some interesting, but today I find that the question and all the answers have been erased from Yahoo answers as offensive.

I've just asked a new question (Have you ever had a reasonable question removed?) to try and get a list of some of the reasonable questions that might have been removed (not to answer them) - it might help to see a pattern or even understand if YA has an unwritten editorial policy...

Many questions were removed yesterday, some that had multiple answers already. Its hard to see though, what would be offensive about your question. Were the answers offensive?

Obviously there is a major crack down on questions and answers, particularly in the R&S field and Government and Politics. No, I am not paranoid the government removed them (snickers), but these two categories seem to cause the most infighting, trolling and bitterness. SW

I think that's an interesting question and I can't imagine why the fanatics found it offensive but who knows somebody must have reported it maybe they did not understand the question In my opinion most religious fanatics are a lil more concerned with the Bible than they are with the 3 R's hmmm wonder if that's offensive?

I'm a Christian. I don't find it offensive.
My answer would be that i'm sure if God wanted 2+2=5 then it would.

I've been reading in the forum that with the removal of thumbs down people who disagree with a question have begun reporting them. Their reasoning is that it's the only way to show their disapproval since we can no longer thumbs down a question. Maybe that's what happened to you. You asked a valid question, and I would contact Yahoo! about it's removal.

some cases its frustrating to make certain the high-quality line between chatting and asking a question considering both might want to employ a question mark on the top of a word. Dont enable it problem you. in basic terms save asking issues and maximum of them receives by ability of in basic terms high-quality. BTW, Yahoo doesnt seize this stuff on their own. It takes 2 or more effective human beings reporting you to get something deleted.

I AGREE THAT THERE IS NOT GOOD REASON TO CALL THIS QUESTION OFFENSIVE. PERHAPS THE MONITOR ON THIS SECTION OF YAHOO ANSWERS WANTS TO PLAY GOD.

TO THOSE WHO ARE OFFENDED BY THIS QUESTION I WOULD REMIND YOU THAT A CLOSED MIND IS EXACTLY WHAT SATAN WANTS,

(PERSONALLY I GIVE HIM NO POWER)

MY STUDIES OF GOD HAVE LED ME TO BELIEVE THAT ALL THINGS EXIST BECAUSE HE ORDAINED IT. AND NOTHING EXISTS THAT HE DID NOT CREATE.THEREFORE MATHEMATICS EXIST BECAUSE HE ORDAINED IT TO BE.

SAME GOES FOR THE EXISTENCE OF YOUR QUESTION, ANY ANSWERS AND THE CLOSED MINDED WHO ERASED IT. SO YOU MAY DRAW YOUR CONCLUSION FROM THIS FACT.

MY ANSWER IS ,YOU BETCHA!!

I don't see how that is offensive at all. I noticed tons of questions have been being removed for no apparently good reason.

They would have burned you at the stake for asking such an offensive question, but you gave them a fake address, didn't you?

Wow, that's a good question, both of them. Well, there are people who are offended by just about anything.
well, as for maths, both are possible. i think that really is a good question, and to be honest, I'm not sure ho to answer. It could be both, it could be neither.
Sorry, I'm not much help.
