Ultimately, above the human authors, the Bible was written by God. 2 Timothy 3:16 tells us that the Bible was "breathed out" by God. God "superintended" the human authors of the Bible so that while using their own writing styles and personalities, they still recorded exactly what God wanted to be said. The Bible is not dictated from God, but it is perfectly guided and entirely inspired by Him.

Humanly speaking, the Bible was written by approximately 40 men over the course of 1500 years. Isaiah was a prophet, Ezra was a priest, Matthew was a tax-collector, John was a fisherman, Paul was a tentmaker, Moses was a shepherd. Despite being written by approximately 40 authors over approximately 1500 years, the Bible does not contradict itself and does not contain any errors. The authors all present different perspectives, but they all proclaim the same one true God, and the same one way of salvation (John 14:6; Acts 4:12). Few of the books of the Bible specifically name their author. Here are the books of the Bible along with the name of who is most assumed by Biblical scholars to be the author, along with the approximate date of authorship:

Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy = Moses - 1400 B.C.

I think the Bible was written by a bunch of frightened people who were trying desperately to impose order on the chaos in the world around them, by those who were driven to organize random events into a pattern that could be made to seem predictable and serve as a reliable guide to action. In other words, humans.

It would seem so. The bible was written by men during an age when society tought men those beliefs and that becuase they were tought like that back then we can not hold them to the same standerds that we hold men to today. The bible should not be looked at as litreal for behaivior but as an religious guide to beliefs.

Old - no, because they would be dead by 50

Chauvinistic - a woman (mary) is chosen as the vessel of the salvation of the world - so that argument is destroyed too

Racist - Jesus said the word of the Lord is for Gentile and Jew, for everybody - so that argument is destroyed as well

Oh well I'm just too good

No. They were inspired by the Holy Spirit. God created women for men. And the people of God were Jews, not white people. That's why Hitler and other groups like the KKK hate Jews, because they were God's Children. The only problem is that their are people like the KKK who try to calim they are Christians, when they are not. Christians and God do not have a problem with Jews, because they are the children of God.

I think that it was. I think that's wht so many women were given such a lowly position and certain things that were common in that time were made out to be evil. It was written by humans and humans are always going to put their own opinion in things weither they mean to or not. It's just something that we can't help because it's our nature. When the Bible was written, people were the same way. People are always going to be the same way.

That is what it seems like. Everyone in this section says it was wrote down on different peoples views. And someone even tried to compare it to the "secret game" (where one person tells some thing to someone and it spreads to different people and most of the time the main part of it is lost) so if this is so why would you think that anything in the Bible is true?

Old? Not by today's standards. People just didn't live as long then.

Chauvinistic? Not by their society's standards. They were a heavily patriarchal society that considered women little more than pets, owned property. That's why a virgin was considered more valuable, unwrapped merchandise.

Racist? Of course, especially in the OT. God called for ethnic cleansing to make way for his "chosen people".

And remember: the Bible was written by old men who wanted to push their version of the "truth" of Jesus. All of Jesus' "miracles" never took place, but yet were included in the Bible to push an agenda.
