I lived my life as I wanted to live. Not answering to anyone. I thought I was above the need for a Creator, a God in my life. He Gifted me with the Knowledge of Him when times were bad and Graced me with His presence when times are good. I thank Him in bad times and in good times. He does not answer to ANY religion, He Is. There is no need to prove Him to anyone. He will do it if you are willing to see, feel and hear Him. FYI I am not a Christian nor am I of any religion. God is Good.

Peace and Love

"The Knig James bible is the correct version of the english written bible all others will lead you astray and you will get the wrong understanding from them." so when the original text talked about cattles why was the word translated into unicorns? Unicorns are meantioned more then 6 times, that isn't an actual reasonable translation... there are alot more bad translations, why don't you just learn greek/or hebrew or aramic and learn the actual text before saying that thats the only right translation, how the heck would you know, if you don't actually know the original text???

I'm curious, since I've heard conflicting answers. I'm not sure if I'm interpreting these ayats correctly or not, but could you please help explain them to me, and explain your beliefs about the stated question?

I'm using Muhammad M. Pickthall's English translation of the Qur'an.

"Lo! those who believe (in that which is revealed unto thee, Muhammad), and those who are Jews, and Christians, and Sabaeans--whoever believeth in Allah and the Last Day and doth right--surely their reward is with their Lord, and there shall no fear come upon them neither shall they grieve." (Qur'an 2:62)

I thought this was saying that Jews and Christians who believe similarly can be saved, although someone explained to me that this referred only to the early Jews and Christians.

The Bible that I come across the most is the King James Version of the Bible. That was made popular because it was the first translation into English. It was translated into Old English because that was the common language of the time. Why doesn't anyone go back to the original scripts that he translated and retranslate them into present day English? Shouldn't that replace the KJV Bible? Is there any other reason to retain the KJV Bible that I don't know about? It seems to me that people would be less confused about what the Bible actually says (different interpretations and whatnot) if someone would just republish the Bible using a language that most people understand. I don't just mean English either. Present day Spanish, English, Swedish, Chinese, African Bush Tribe, etc.

OK, I'm probably borrowing trouble, but my son's girlfriend has been a part of the Salvation Army faith all her life (her parents are both employed by the Salvation Army). In talking with her, I found out they do not believe in baptism, therefore, they are not confirmed, either. Now, if my son were to marry this girl, do I/we have any say as to whether their children are baptized? I strongly believe in baptism. I haven't talked to my son about this, but I am in a very awkward place. I really like the girlfriend, and don't want religion to become a bone of contention. Is there a happy medium?

How do you comfort a friend who's son died (a year ago) and still struggles with the "why" question. I have been there to listen, but I wish I could give her some sort of comfort. I don't think she will accept that "he is in a better place". I know that God has a plan for her life, but she does not. Anyone have any advice or been in a similar situation. Thanks.

This isn't my usual cynical sarcasm at work here.
Seriously why? You make up 80% of America.
Christians are the largest religious denomination.
So how can the world be out to get you when you make up half the world? This is not an insult so don't flame me.

Well, a few years back, i dreamed that I was inside a chamber with about 3 other people and the there was nothing but fire inside that chamber. The walls of the chamber were covered in slick oil and I couldn't climb out, though I was only and inch away from the surface. I saw the faces of agony of the other souls trapped there with me as they passed through the flame, and I tried desperately to get out, but i just kept sliding back down into the flames of the pit. After a while, a stone started sliding over the surface of the chamber I was trapped in very slowly. i screamed and clawed and the walls and tried to get out, but I kept falling back down. when the slab of stone had completely sealed the chamber, I knew I would never get out. I didn't feel the pain or sheer horror of hell itself, but I think I got the point.

It states very clearly in the bible that it isn't a state of mind, or just an eternal separation from God thought that is part of it. There are verses that describe it in detail.

And the devil who decieved them was was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet were thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
Revelations 20:10

Then, they will go away to "eternal punishment", but the righteous to eternal life.
Matthew 25:46

Hell and its destruction are never full, so the eyes of man are never satisfied.
Proverbs 27:20

And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. “Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
Luke 16:23-24.

And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

4And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

5For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

6And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

7For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

8All these are the beginning of sorrows.

9Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.

10And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

11And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

12And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

13But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

14And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

15When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

16Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

17Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:

18Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.

19And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!

20But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:

21For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

22And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

23Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.

24For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

25Behold, I have told you before.

26Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.

27For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

28For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

29Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

30And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

31And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

one of my really good friends was killed in Iraq last week and he claimed to be atheist...but he was really open to what i, as a Christian, had to say. some of my other Christian friends also talked to him bout it. but i am wondering that if *since he died of drowning* he had some time while he was drowning to see that there was a God, i mean, b/c he WAS going to die...and if he accepted Jesus into his life...and if God forgave him for denying him...this is kinda of a deep situation, but i need to no if there would have been forgiveness...and if God could give me a sign that my friend DID go to Heaven...but he was really a good friend i could talk to about anything...i miss him and love him so0o much!!....ADVICE PLZ!
