I think it is on the decline in developed countries, and possibly on the incline in less developed countries. Europe best shows this trend, where most people don't even consider god a serious discussion.

Statistics can be misleading depending on how people answer and who they are. They can also be skewed do to how questions are asked and how answers are projected.
Some people chose to answer based on the topic; if they aren't religious, they may not care and not answer. Such a question posed to the general public (people are not randomly selected) may chose to answer because they want to (in this case, they probably do go to church and are proud of it).
The results may be based on how many people answer they went to church one time in the past year, and the result includes them as "people who attended church last year", ignoring their frequency.
Some people may lie because they think it makes them look better or it's what they think the asker wants for some reason.
Polls can be good for many things, but they must be done very carefully. I know several people who attend church regularly (or so they claim, and probably do); I do not, however.

While the total number of religious people is growing, the percentage of religious people in the population over all is shrinking.
We can only hope that the percentage eventually becomes 0.

Ideally, humans will evolve beyond the point of needing religion, unless all the religious people kill everyone first, or if we are wiped out by some natural disaster, which is more likely I guess.

as people grow wiser on the whole less and less will be duped into believing such nonsense. Less and less people are going and the ones left that are going are getting more and more fanatical

All churches that hold service on sunday are synagouges of satan.
The bible tells us that there will come a time that you won't be able to find out what he told you to do, better try to find out before that time comes.
