I can accept the existence of a Higher Being, but what is His purpose? Is He only there for us?

Heterosexual cultural norms have dominated throughout most of history, but the growth of Islam brings that dominance into question.

In Islamic countries, heterosexual affection in public is either legally banned or against the mores of the region. For example, several Islamic countries have criminal penalties for public kissing between man and woman. However, its extremely common to see Muslim men holding hands, kissing, or sitting on each others laps.

Furthermore, unnatural separation of the sexes is imposed on the entire society. Islamic community is thus divided into single sex communities. In most Islamic countries, all areas of discourse or movement have this separation in mind, either by literally having separate rooms, or imposing strict norms or laws regarding womans clothing.

The degree to which a community separates the sexes, is the degree to which homosexuality and incest is increased. Like the law of thermodynamics, sexual energy cannot be destroyed, only diverted

A famous pundit asked this question, and I think it's appropriate

You christians want to prevent gay couples from getting married, sharing health insurance, and visitng rights.
You want to condemn them to hell.

But many of you stop short of denying them the right to drive? Why?
Shouldn't you persecute sinners to the max? Why stop at marriage?

I come home from work one day and find a "gaziltaflange" sitting in my living room. I've never seen a "gaziltaflange" before. I don't know what it is, or what it's made of, or if it's alive or dead.

At first I'm nervous, but I start examining it anyway. Soon I find that whatever it is, it does absolutely amazing things. It has powers that seem impossible, but clearly are not. I begin to wonder if this thing was left here by someone, or maybe it came by itself. Maybe it grew here! The truth is, I just don't know.

After months of study, I still don't know where it came from, or how it got in my living room, but I've start to understand a lot more about how it works. I've even begun to figure out what it's made of. Finally, after many years, I know a great deal about how it works, and what it's made of, but still have no idea how it got in my living room!

Should I believe:

a) Aliens left it.
b) It came/grew/etc by itself.
c) Some super intelligent human made it.
d) God did it.

Okay. so you have your religion. Lets say you meet a person who follows a completely different religion, but that person believes whole heartedly in their religion and believes YOU are wrong. Who is right? You? Just because of how YOU were taught? And part 2 to my question: What happens to that person in the afterlife? Do they go to hell automatically for not following the religion you believe is true, even if they are good people?

Quran 4:74 “let those fight in the cause of allah who sell the life of this world for the hereafter. to him who fighteth in the cause of allah,- whether he is slain or gets victory - soon shall we give him a reward of great (value). http://cwis.usc.edu/dept/msa/quran/004.qmt.html

A reward is promised for fighting for Allah, whether you are "slain" or have victory. Why would Allah openly offer this afterlife-bounty, I mean, doesnt that take away the test? The Jihadist is doing it for a reward, like a bounty hunter, not necessarily out of a love for Allah. Wouldnt it make more sense for Allah to just see who is willing to fight for him and get slain or succeed in the slaughter of unbelievers without promising him rewards?

Ok, call me crazy, but this looks exactly like the cheap human carrot-stick methods to get people to do things...I dont see how a God could be involved in something so gimmicky.

I keep hearing this theory that religious people have higher birth rates, and while every generation turns away from religion, the next generation comes into religious homes because they tend to want more babies. I won't bother linking because there are so many variations on this concept -- from political to geographical. But the gist is, the Baptists from Alabama have more kids than the agnostics in Seattle.

Thoughts?

Quran 2:65 "And well ye knew those amongst you who transgressed in the matter of the Sabbath: We said to them: "Be ye apes, despised and rejected." http://www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/quran/002.qmt.html#002.065

In Islam, accoding to the Quran, its possible, if Allah is displeased, to be magically transformed into an ape or pig. Heres more:

Quran 5:60 Say: "Shall I point out to you something much worse than this, (as judged) by the treatment it received from Allah? those who incurred the curse of Allah and His wrath, those of whom some He transformed into apes and swine, those who worshipped evil;- these are (many times) worse in rank, and far more astray from the even path!" http://www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/quran/005.qmt.html#005.060

Ok, lets consider this for a second "be ye apes, despised and rejected"? So if your made into an ape, you shall be despised and rejected because apes are despised and rejected...wait...are they? Where are apes despised and rejected. Someone explain.
